Tannehill is a much better qb than RG3 or Kaep, unfortunately, maybe even Cam at this point.

:dahell:

Scott Frost never saw a snap at qb in the NFL. The only first rounder on that list is Tim Tebow... Yet Tim didn't have "see....this is why GMs fear taking mobile qbs" arguments tied to him. YOURE doing the tying in here...it wasn't some overriding sentiment that he was the face of change at the position who fell short. Never. Why even make that up?

This thread is about Peter King reflecting a sentiment so wide that a slate magazine had to write an article tying mathematical proofs to debunk lies about the injury prone nature of mobile qbs. You have a clear case exhibited by Peter King yet you want to tie Eric Crouch, Jordan Lynch and other non descripts to this argument?? :mindblown: That's like me bringing up random black nobody college running qbs. Why would I be stupid enough to do that?
To the bolded.. all I can say is.. they should have so I agree with you. He's the poster child.

And the only reason I bring those other guys up is because they are examples of white mobile QBs who reached college greatness but didn't make it because they lacked the necessary skills. I'm just trying to make the point that I'm trying to move beyond "black QBs vs. white QBs" because I think in the NFL, largely the players that give their teams the best chance to win will be the ones on the field.

And as far as Peter King's article goes - I know what his point is about injuries. And I disagree wholeheartedly with the article, and I agree with you that King's article is stupid. The difference between how you and I read that article is I could give a fukk less about the racial undertone because I think the premise about injuries is stupid and wrong. I think NFL GMs shy away from guys with the "mobile QB" label because they are unsure whether they can perform the job as needed. If they were more sure that their skill set translated, they wouldn't even be called "mobile QB" (see Luck, Andrew). So I am addressing King's points by saying "you think GMs shy away because those guys are injury prone. I think they shy away because guys who have that label to begin with have not convinced people they have the skillset." See what I mean?

I'm sorry, i feel if you don't have a qb that can make something happen when a play breaks down ala russel wilson and aaron rodgers you're doing your team a disservice. Screw these over paid statues.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
And it’s because, obviously, mobile quarterbacks are getting the tar beaten out of them in the NFL today.
:mjpls:

Newton is a big question mark now, after a poor season for Newton and the Panthers. I tend to pass it off as a year in which any quarterback would struggle, seeing that both his offensive line and receiver corps were denuded after the 2013 season. If I’m Carolina GM Dave Gettleman, I may just let Newton play out his final season, at $14.7 million, and see where he is this time next year. “Cam is the most interesting guy right now,’’ said Polian. “When it comes down to it, he hasn’t proven much yet, except he can get hurt. He’s got some tread off his tire already.’’

Speaking of Newton (and Kaepernick, and Wilson)…

“What we’re seeing this year is the incredible erosion of the running quarterback,’’ said Polian. We very well may be. Kaepernick hasn’t had a 40-yard rushing game since September. Griffin has gone bust, for now. Newton is gimpy and trying to stay in the pocket. The only quarterback making a good living outside the pocket in 2014 is Seattle’s Wilson, and at 5-11 and 208, that cannot go on forever.

The one thing about Wilson is he doesn’t seem to take many killer shots when he’s running; he has a knack for avoiding them. But it only takes one. So if you’re an NFL GM, and you get word this offseason that San Francisco may listen to offers for Kaepernick, or Carolina might think of trading Newton, you have to ask yourself:Am I will to pay a significant pick or picks for a mobile quarterback who may not be so mobile anymore—either by necessity or the simple football reality of wanting to keep him upright?

meanwhile wilson just won a super bowl... kaep been to 2 straight nfc champs... rodgers is a superbowl winner and in 1st place.. big ben got 2 rings

but when they say mobile... we know that that's really code words for

These are people, aside from Kaep, are put in pretty bad situations. Colin probably has the best receiver group on this list by far, but someone at SF has to work on his accuracy a little more. He got the strength. Same with Robert, you knew he was gonna be a project and unfortunately, that first season of his fukked that project up. He still needs to work on his mechanics and his running style, then he'll look like more of a consistent version of 2012. Russell is throwing to a batch of high school receivers with their number one guy basically being Doug Baldwin. nikka you give Brady a bunch of Doug Baldwins and you'll see what happens.
