Yeah they suck too! Nobody says they don't. And there are lots of pocket passers who were great in college but couldn't do it in the NFL (Case Keenum, Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, Kliff Kingsbury). Why? Because they played in systems designed for them to play pitch and catch 50 times a game to wide open guys so they put up silly numbers. Other guys play in pro style systems and do well based on their physical attributes but their mental mastery of the game isn't there (or vice versa - see Chad Pennington who could never quite be elite despite having great QB skills because he had a noodle arm) so they flame. But look at the teams who consistently win and look at their QBs. Of course "pocket passers" don't get criticized for being pocket passers because pocket passers win in the NFL. They get criticized for being dumb, inaccurate, or inconsistent.
And I'm not denying that race matters for a lot of people. I'm sure it does. But I've been watching football for far too long to sit here and say I'd take a "mobile QB" with a high pick if I were the GM of a team, regardless of his race. Show me what he can do when his mobility is taken away, as it undoubtedly will be in the league, and then we'll talk. And my point, which most of y'all are missing, is that most of these guys are unable to show and prove when the mobility is taken away because they have always leaned on it as a crutch. Just like the "big arm cannon" guys have. That's all I'm saying.
