This shows what's wrong with society. We value money over everything

An education is the most priceless thing you can get.

This type of stuff is why we are far off from the 2020 written about in science fiction because we don't invest in research and science. We could have no disease, pollution and hydrogen fuel based engines in cars but nah

PhD's are usually funded by the university and you get paid a small stipend
Depends heavily on the field.

The Truth
120 with online classes, certs, or something.

For 40k I would have to live frugally, have a girl that makes equal or more, love my job and love life to make that much with a phd.

The PHD would piss me off more than the 40k if I was making 40k

Taking the $120k makes sense.

Problem is that you're relatively uneducated with an 8th grade reading level. All that money could get wasted on bullshyt. Like giving someone Lamar Jackson's athletic ability but not ever knowing how to play football.

If that person has the wits and hustle to land a 120k gig out the mud with no prior advancements college or even trade...they probably gonna appreciate and cherish the dollar a lot more than the average person...I’m speaking from experience though and have witnessed it in my own family...

I’m pro education btw..but I’ve been around enough to know there is no right or wrong way towards acquiring wealth or knowledge for that matter...

What’s makes OP anti education though

Seems like a legitimate question

Who would choose 40k over 120k :russ:

Depends. with the PHD you could easily make big dollars and have more security than the uneducated cat making 120K. If both lose their jobs, the uneducated cat will be working at mcdonald's depending on the skills he obtained. The PHD will have no issues. Also easier to get bank loans..and on top of that you're educated. You have a higher degree of intelligence than the other cat.

I'll take PHD and quitting my job the minute I find a new one.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
All in with bonus, im hovering the 120 with a high school education. I never had the college experience though, other than a few parties at my homies colleges (my friends went to Providence, that city was the red light district). Im not as learned as I would like to be, and I feel like with a college experience my life would be a lot different. I’d have to think more about it

Nope. I’m “uneducated” and make a good bit more than 120k and it literally took me less than 2 weeks to find my latest gig…

As I said, it depends on the skills that the individual has. Lets not make it seem like 120K is easy to achieve for uneducated people. It simply isn't. Likely someone in the trades, but that's about it.

It's all about sustainability. You may be aight now...but how will you be later? You may be OK, but I'll place my bet on the PHD. I can accomplish more with that in theory. I'm not an "exception to the rule" kind of guy.

lol. A PHD seems like the stupidest of investments personally but I know some specific job titles require them. Most degrees as well really but I’m obviously biased.

Like when I first moved to California I had a roommate with a masters still working on school and he doesn’t get paid near what I make. I just couldn’t imagine.

In the op both salaries are fixed forever

There is no quitting your job and finding a higher salary
