The only reason the Wizards are winning in the playoffs is because they became a three point shooting team.

In the regular season they averaged 16.8 3PA per game, shooting 36% from 3
In the playoffs they're averaging 24.6 3PA per game, shooting 43% from 3

Killing their own argument by using the Wizards :deadmanny:

Analytics values scoring in the paint just as much as 3 point shooting. They just don't value mid range shooting which is usually the most open shot in basketball.

Exactly inside shots and 3's are the most valuable shots. It just sees mid range shooting as the worse shot in the league (Shout out to Melo)

Not. always. true.

When it comes to threes, all an advanced stats guy will tell you is that taking a 3 is smarter than taking a long ass two

:patrice:This is a very weird (and false) statement..especially since "analytics" values being able to score in the paint.

He right tho, thats how i beat so much ass in NBA Live 03 :ehh:

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the grizzlies fire Lionel Hollins partially because he refused to buy into the analytics side of things?

And aren't the Grizzlies the team that's giving the Warriors hell? They also hired Hollinger.

Which is crazy because the media will then bytch of dudes in the league not making mid range shots and then suck off analytic dudes.

You know what is funny in all this shyt. You know MJ was one of the most efficient players in the league because he believed in high percentage shots and mid range jumpers. He was never crazy about three and would often say why take a 23 foot three when I can dribble 2 times and pull up and hit a 18 footer which is a higher percentage shot.

I absolutely hate watching the warriors and rockets where them dudes got a 19 foot shot and will bag up to shoot a three.

Y'all might want to wait until the Warriors are actually eliminated from the playoffs before y'all start their funeral...

stats don't tell the whole story....Hawks are taking 31 threes/gm :francis:

So the Wizards as a counter-example might not be a great idea :manny:
