analytics dudes are those nerds in school who wanted to ball but didn't have the ability. now they tryin to infilatrate the league with this fukkery.

Basketball is a simple game.

The closer you are to the basket, the better chance you have at scoring. All these analytics and BS we have been hearing about the Warriors this season is in the middle of getting obliterated and I'm just sitting back like :win:

looks like its still "goink" ok for them. phil was way off base, but i wouldnt expect him to adapt to the way basketball is looked at now. he played when people were shooting underhanded set shots and shyt and there wasnt even a 3 pointer, and coached teams with multiple players that were some of the all time elite talent this game has seen, and he won many times over while not having to delve into anything deeper than "give the ball to michael/kobe/shaq" in close and late game situations. the way he views the game of basketball is set in stone. but the way the game is played now has passed him by. its comical anyone in 2015 would want this guy being anywhere near their front office. the game has simply passed him, and anyone who thinks like him, by. a guy who decries the 3 pointer is in a position to advocate what moves a team should make in 2015. of course its the knicks who brought him on board.

To all the Coli cats in here saying Phil lost due to critizing scoring based of analytics :camby:

I rather go with a proven individual with the best resume in the game than a game plan that MAY work.

Did you even take the time to read the tweet?

If he's running your team on a different scale to the teams that are actually having success in today's league - the Knicks aren't exactly in a good position for the future are they?

Analytics isn't the end all be all, which is what some people ran with. It's great to have, but you also need TALENT.
Lol yeah analytics is still :trash:

Somebody tell Zach Lowe or maybe you need to have a generational talent in lebron, an nba MVP in curry or runner up in harden, winning in the nba is that simple :win:

We had a good season in 2012-13 leading the league in three point made and attempts. 54-28.

We also had veterans that shared the ball and understood floor spacing. Carmelo was also at PF and took advantage of slower defenders.

It's both to be honest. To say that it's completely useless is a lie. And it's been proven to "work".

On paper, the Clippers have arguably a great ton of talent, but you see what that got them.

the Hawks are trash. You don't need an algorithm to see that's not a 60 win team.

And yeah it is hard that's the point. Boiling it down to analytics is dumb and everybody would be winning. At the end of the day, especially in basketball, the team with the superstar(s) wins.

its not a 60 win team that won 60 games. :ehh:

No one is saying talent doesnt matter, its how the talent is used. Where to get the best out of them. How to make it shine the best.

But also, how to make the guys who are 8 and 9 in the rotation better.

How can Houston and Golden State be in this category when GS has the MVP, one of the top SG and one best defenders in the game. Houston has MVP runner up and one of the best big man in the game. That seems like talent to me
