man....it's only been 4 days since scorpio was revealed and ppl are jumping the gun and confusing themselves with assumptions when microsoft has put out the details of scorpio in interviews.
this has me thinking, are PC gamers to blame for all this spec obsession in consoles now?

Dont buy a Scorpio to play your games now and coming out before it launches and built for xb1 and expect to see a crazy jump in improvement.


It should be common sense, as its a new system. But they are making it confusing buy trying to be too transparent, its like when you have a girl and you try to tell her everything and be all the way honest in every little thing. You start looking suspect and its confusing to them.


My take from this is scorpio will still heavily support xb1 games for the 1st year or so and specialize in 4k games and VR for the dev's that want to start going that route.


I feel like they are making this way more difficult than it needs to be.


Essentially they want the scorpio and the xb1 to share the same ecosystem for awhile. But that doesn't make sense, people will buy the latest greatest if its better.....


I think they just dont want xb1 owners to feel left behind

2K was a huge step up from the previous generation man...don't kid yourself. That is one of the few exceptions though, many of the games did not have THAT big of a leap.

NBA Live 06 did as well. Sports games usually have the biggest leaps starting out.

The Xbox came out and they gave it 4 years then replaced it. I don't see why they care now with the Xbox One.

It's right there, "4K ULTRA HD/HDR" on the Xbox One S page. You do know that there will be people that will think that means it's 4K so it's 4K. There's people that don't know anything about technology and will see a word and run with it.

I'm TELLING YOU that the Xbox One Scorpio is a better product than the Xbox One regardless of whether you have a 4K or not and that he himself said that some devs aren't going to target 4K. So if he's saying "4K" is the selling point and then later saying it's not mandated, isn't he contradicting himself?? Microsoft has denied claims that some games will perform better on Xbox One S than they do on the existing Xbox One.

Yesterday Gears of War 4 boss Rod Fergusson stated that the new machine boasts slightly improved CPU and GPU performance, and that in turn will allow the Coalition shooter to better handle its dynamic resolution system.

However, Xbox’s Albert Penello has denied this toEurogamer, insisting that the slimmed-down console is designed to run games precisely the same as the existing Xbox One.

"When we made changes to the box for 4K we unlocked a little bit more processing power to enable HDR. That's it. It's exactly the same architecture as the existing one," he said. "To support HDR, we give people access to a little more CPU and GPU. That's it. It is so insignificant it is mind boggling it is being picked up.

"I promise, it won't even show up. It will have no impact on games at all. Literally no impact. They will be identical. It's nothing, it is literally nothing."

Elsewhere, it has been confirmed that while the Xbox One S doesn’t support 4K gaming, it will upscale 1080p games to 4K.

“We'll upscale anything you have, games, other things that aren't [4K], we'll upscale them to 4K as well,” Xbox’s US marketing boss Aaron Greenberg told IGN, as reported by Videogamer. “We're taking advantage of a lot of the great benefits of technology that's happening today, whether it's gaming or video, and at the same time reducing the size of the box as well."

4K TVs are already designed to upscale 1080p, 720p or even standard def video into 4K, so whether the Xbox One S will do a better job than this largely depends on your TV.

It says 4K right there in big letters.

It's being marketed as 4K. All that "upscale to 4K, it's for netflix" hoopla is not going in the ears of the average joe. Average joe sees 4K than that means it's 4K.
