Yeah, agreed 100%. The people who actually know sh*t about tech knew what he was really saying. I tried educating this slow ass Gamestop employee of what he really meant, but to no avail. He actually thought that you NEEDED a 4k TV for the Scorpio.
Phil did something dangerous and now laymen actually think you need a 4k TV in order for the Scorpio to be useful.
Anyways...
well actually you do for it to be worth your money.
lets do this little example.
lets say for fun scorpio is going to be $700 out the gate.
lets say we ask a question like how much of the $700 value do i get if i own a 4k tv vs if i dont own a 4k tv.
if you own a 4ktv you will get $700 worth of value out of the scorpio
if you dont own a 4ktv you will get $400.00 worth of value out of the scorpio. meaning you wasted $300.00
So be an idiot and get it without having a 4k tv if ya want to. but dont come crying later. HE TOLD YOU.
Another thing that's weird is Phil says if you're not on 4K yet then the regular Xbox One is good for 1080P but the regular Xbox One can't do 1080P either

.The Scorpio being 4K is not the only thing that makes it a powerful console. The bolded in your OP specifically states that. You are still getting your moneys worth even if you don't have a 4K TV. 6 terraflops is a big performance boost. The Scorpio not being worth your money is if you only care for resolutions.
you are not getting ALL of your moneys worth without that 4k tv. but if you want to keep telling yourself that go right ahead and waste some of your hard earned money. thats your choice. if the man tells you something and you ignore it. Dont get mad after you buy it and you realize you aint getting your money's worth. i dont want to see or hear a single complaint.
lol why you keep referring to him like he's the final say? A person can buy a Scorpio to replace their Xbox One and buy a 4K later. What's the difference with the people who own 4K TV's RIGHT NOW but are using these current consoles on them?? The 4K scales the image nicely so it'll still look good. You acting like if a person bought a Scorpio to upgrade that they'd suddenly get worse image/performance. Their existing games would automatically improve and devs can patch older games to have better graphics/performance which is of no relation to being 4K. You making it seem like the Scorpio will be suddenly blurry/ugly on a 1080P TV.
a person with a 4k TV right now has wasted their money. the only reason they got it is to say "i have the newest latest." UNLESS they are using it with something that outputs in 4k. Those are the facts.
Ask me why i wasnt rushing to get a 1080p TV back when they first dropped? because most of the TV i watched could not output in 1080p. most of the cable programming was at the lowest HD output at the time. There's a point where you future proof yourself. its never in the first year or two when it comes out because the stuff you're going to watch on the TV has to output at that rate. how long will it take for those things to go up to that rate? well now we know 2017 my xbox will be at 4k. i'll get one then if my money is right and by then the price will be even lower for one. is your cable box outputting shows in 4k right now? not that i know of. so again. whats the point? there isnt one for most people. its a I GOT THE NEWEST LATEST. and thats it.

What you're saying is essentially saying that if you do not have a 1080p television, but instead a 720p television for the Last of Us Remaster for PS4, then you should instead just get the Last of Us for the PS3. OBVIOUSLY playing TLOU on PS4 on a 720p TV is still going to look vastly better than the PS3 version due to the PS4 hardware being much powerful than the PS3. This is common sense. A 1080p game on an high end gaming PC can look better than a 4K Scorpio game. A 1080p Scorpio game is still going to be vastly superior than any current consoles.

Not really. 4K prices has gone down in price considerably. You can get one right now and even if you're on 1080P content, the scaling can make it look REALLY good. I've seen PS4 played on a Samsung 4K and I seriously couldn't sit there and say it didn't look good. It looked REALLY good and that was just upscaling. This whole conversation is just too early. This thing is what? 18 months away?? That's a long ass time from now. By Nov 2017 people will probably have already been on 4K or whatnot so I think this reveal was just too early. Got people talking about something they won't even have access to until almost 2 years later.
This character just doesn't know the basics of tech. I'm still confused why he posted this article.
