we do NOT put liteskins on a pedestal round here.

ok but you're pushing some narrative that DC is a lite brite mecca, which isn't true

I went to attend the Tuxedo Ball with my cousin in '04. I personally felt uncomfortable because I was one of the few people there that did not look like a white person. This was in '04.

The Tuxedo Ball is one of the most premier BLACK events in DC up there with the CBC's ALC.

Here are some pictures from the Tuxedo Ball last year. There are a shyt TON of more brown folks then there were before but they still on that paper bag shyt heavy. DC is literally known for this shyt.

If I got to look for it then ....

I'm not invalidating your experience, breh, especially if you're from DC, you would know more than me.
I'm just saying that this city has a history of it.
It may not be visible to your everyday black Washingtonian, but again, the premise of this was that this has a correlation with economic status.
When I come to DC, I am told these people are the folks that represent black Washington. You may not recognize them in that way, but this is what I'm told when I come to events like this in your city.
I could have some confirmation bias going on though.

This picture looks remarkably like pictures I've seen of weddings in Petionville ,Haiti (where the mulatto families are)

DC and Philly had large population of Free Blacks for years before the Civil War. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that colorism still exists in those circles. Human beings will always find lines of division and superiority.
During slave era...among the freemen, those who were born free had higher social status than those who purchased their freedom. I'm sure this occurred in English, French, Spanish,Portuguese colonies.....(Dutch too, didn't forget about your people, Dip.)

It’s the same all over the diaspora. Haiti, Jamaica (think Malcolm Gladwell), Cuba, Brazil.

Philly has that same culture too. But everyone that I know that was from Philly lives in New York now. My uncle and his family had been living in Ambler PA and Philly since the 1700s. His family still owns their property in Ambler and a few are in the Mainline, but majority of their people left for New York or suburban DC and he came to Chicago.

Btw I don’t understand people who keep saying Philly looks old as if that’s a negative thing.

The old infasteucture of American cities is GOAT.

And I’m happy Philly is still constructing new row homes.

In reality I don’t think trash or old buildings is a serious factor as much as people online make it out to be when in enjoying a city.

It’s not about being old it’s about being dilapidated. Too Much of philly is dilapidated. Other cities in the NE are like that too. The south has older cities that aren’t teeming with vacant buildings and trash

And Only a New Yorker would not care about trash on the streets lol

New York, Philly, DC, San Fran, LA, Miami, Paris etc are all filled with trash on the streets. Anyone who actually travels knows this.

Even in “clean” Chicago you can see litter on the ground.

Big cities with high tourism usually have some sort of litter or trash problem.

Do you travel often?

It's sort of true. Philly had some gems though. That being said, I'm glad I moved. I was there five years and like I said, there were gems, and definitely things I enjoyed, but overall Philly was not my city. I've lived in other places, so I had big, small, and mid-size cities, regions, etc to compare it to. In the end, Philly ended up being a place that I regretted moving to and couldn't wait to move from. Now that I'm gone, and it's been close to a year, I'm thankful that I left. This is no offense to Philly brehs and brehettes, but I found that people either love it or hate it.

Do you just naturally have poor comprehension? You consistently respond off topic in discussions Lmao.

I wasn’t talking about levels. I was speaking about major cities and trash. Major cities with tourism and a lot of people will have most likely have a trash problem PERIOD. So hearing someone complain about it is silly.

I travel every month so what’s the point of you asking me if I ever lived outside of NY? Lmao.

NY is also one of the worlds favorite cities with its trash problem. My point proven. Lmao
