Do you just naturally have poor comprehension? You consistently respond off topic in discussions Lmao.

I wasn’t talking about levels. I was speaking about major cities and trash. Major cities with tourism and a lot of people will have most likely have a trash problem PERIOD. So hearing someone complain about it is silly.

I travel every month so what’s the point of you asking me if I ever lived outside of NY? Lmao.

NY is also one of the worlds favorite cities with its trash problem. My point proven. Lmao

Man Philly has been getting better every year over the last 10 years. Development is booming, food is out of this world, social scene is improving as far as activities and events (although night life is trash), great concert venues with consistent quality acts in town, sports is poppin' .....and im seeing a nice influx of more out of towners with big corporations moving in like Comcast. Their new tower opens in summer

I love it here. Cost of living is the best. It's between nyc and dc and cheap flights to just about anywhere......again the only thing that is trash is really the nightlife it's non existent here. But at my age i dont mind im not a club guy anyway....so theres cool lounges and places to chill at

breh....I need to venture into CC more...can you suggest some good lounges?

You’re tripping ...go to other major cities on the east coast NYC, Boston. DC and try to get a condo close to center city / downtown for 2-300k or a home reasonably close to center city 200-300k and let me know how that works out for you ..in Philly homeownership is still very affordable lots of neighborhoods turning over and gentrifying it’s like catching the wave before Brooklyn turned over or when DC was changing from Chicolate city to what it is now ...if you can’t aee the affordability you’re tripping you get the most bang for your buck in center city

You can get a nice 1 bedroom in a good neighborhood for 1k it’s not even a possibility in nyc /dc /Boston

It’s 2019 rent isn’t going to be $400 for a studio forever ....over all Philly is one of the most affordable cities not to mention the real estate tax ain’t shyt you pay double in the county and triple in New Jersey ..i have my real estate license i see it all the time

Above the fray.
I went to attend the Tuxedo Ball with my cousin in '04. I personally felt uncomfortable because I was one of the few people there that did not look like a white person.
They hit you with that Deborah Cox?

How did YOU get here?

I've been in situations like that, except I had no connection whatsoever with the other people there. Here is the song that fit my situation.

Not just skin color either. You mentioned a point about facial features a while back. I was at a function years ago in VA and majority of the people looked like the ones in the pictures you put up. The ones who were more Brown all looked like the actor Dorian Harewood.

:russ:

I got hit with the “Oh...I thought you were a musician and with the band...”

This is from a woman sitting at my table. :comeon:

“I didn’t know such and such was your family..” :ohhh:

I hit her back with the “Yes, however, I don’t know yours......you must be new???”:scust:

Breh, they hate to be called new.:mjlol:

Her demeanor switched up quickly.:beli:

And that Dorian Harewood observation is SPOT ON. Those are the ones that have immediate high yellow family but a momma or grandmama went rogue and married a dark skin husband. :lolbron: I’m actually closer to his complexion.

Actually, the reality is, the power couples in bourgeois circles were men that looked like Dorian Harewood with wives that looked like Amel Larrieux. That was the norm really post-Civil rights to the 99s.

facts. With those deeply ingrained skin/hair prejudices working against him, a dark skinned guy had to have been a super achiever to crack that circle.
shyt is all hilarious. I had fun times around that set, just observing. and cracking jokes to myself.

The Tuxedo Ball is one of the most premier BLACK events in DC up there with the CBC's ALC.

Here are some pictures from the Tuxedo Ball last year. There are a shyt TON of more brown folks then there were before but they still on that paper bag shyt heavy. DC is literally known for this shyt.

Yeah I would agree, shyt's not looking all like this anymore...

But it's still there if you look for it.

I'm not invalidating your experience, breh, especially if you're from DC, you would know more than me.
I'm just saying that this city has a history of it.
It may not be visible to your everyday black Washingtonian, but again, the premise of this was that this has a correlation with economic status.
When I come to DC, I am told these people are the folks that represent black Washington. You may not recognize them in that way, but this is what I'm told when I come to events like this in your city.
I could have some confirmation bias going on though.

This picture looks remarkably like pictures I've seen of weddings in Petionville ,Haiti (where the mulatto families are)

DC and Philly had large population of Free Blacks for years before the Civil War. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that colorism still exists in those circles. Human beings will always find lines of division and superiority.
During slave era...among the freemen, those who were born free had higher social status than those who purchased their freedom. I'm sure this occurred in English, French, Spanish,Portuguese colonies.....(Dutch too, didn't forget about your people, Dip.)

I think I now get what y’all were saying
I think because of Howard and DC’s long standing middle and upper class black population there historically may have been a highly visible light brite population
From what I’ve seen a lot of folks that’s families are from NW DC and families have been in DC for generations and cashed out during gentrification are lighter skinnt

Maybe DC natives can correct me
