I feel like there's no reason to gentrify Baltimore to the degree DC has been gentrified. DC is the nation's cap. Baltimore fulfills a role. It's the heroin capital. Folks who ain't woke don't realize illegal business controls America like KRS One said way back in 88'. The fact one of the poorest places with a population over 250k that is flooded with crack and dope is smack dab in the middle of the richest state is no coincidence. Trickle down economics is the sons and daughters of wealthy cacs running in town to cop everyday instead of hoarding all that money and not spending it like white folks tend to do. Dope and fentanyl is big business in Baltimore right now. nikkas in Baltimore ain't growing that shyt in they backyard neither. It's Uncle Sam placing the order.

Baltimore shouldn't be filling the role as the heroin capital. There's much more to Baltimore than drugs and murders. If every other city is turning around, whats stopping us...

I don't know what area you're describing because the DMV is full of rude, passive aggressive, sarcastic, bigoted, closet racist, don't know how to drive, elitist soulless a$$holes. Seriously, DC ranks as the most snobbish East Coast city. And many of the snobbiest places in America are inside the beltway. DMV folks aren't outwardly aggressive like up north, but they are rude in the fact that they don't have manners for shyt, don't know how to say please, thank you or excuse me. Full of snobby cacs who look like Patrick Bateman or the 80's preppy looking fakkit from the Polo catalog. Oh yeah, and bougie black folks who live exactly just like bougie white folks yet refuse to live in the same county as them. Even ghetto black folks in DC are snobby and they will call you a bama if you haven't lived in DC or inner beltway PG County every second of your life. But I don't blame em because DC area white folks are that insufferable to be around. DMV cacs and their whitewashed asskissing African, Asian and Latino flunkies in Montgomery County, NW DC and Northern VA will turn anyone into Huey P Newton. If I lived within reach of the DC metro area I'd eventually snap and start offing people like the DC sniper.

Philly is a dope city if you have bread or you roll in the “woke” neo soul type circles
If you broke or a hood black I can def see if being trash if all you exposed to is the depths of north philly
It’s not like Atlanta or Houston where it’s a vibe for ALL black people
It’s gentrifying like shyt and is almost a tale of two cities type vibe.
Black people who think it’s a shythole cause ppl getting murdered every day and their environment dirty as shyt
And other blacks who don’t even know about the violence at all and going to brunch day parties and rich medina dj sets every weekend

That’s the vibe I get almost every time I visit Philly, I fux wit it heavy. It’s definitely one of those cities were there is a very sizable conscious/“woke” mentality amongst the Black population and is one of the main reasons why Philly is lowkey my most favorite American city

Philly is dope, enjoyed every time I visit. The only ones talking otherwise are boring or scared. Cleveland is dope too. Lived there during college and had a lot of fun hanging out downtown and on the eastside. It not the city but how you utilize the resources that matters

Not only do I love Philly, but I've also really enjoyed the smaller cities I've been to in Pennsylvania. I went to Lancaster the other day and thought it felt like a mini Philly.

Affordable

Easy to get around

Amazing food/drinks

Easy to network | Great place to start a business

Close proximity to DC/NY/Atlantic City (shore points)

It's improving each year so it hasn't hit its peak

It's not crowded ...downtown/center city even on peak times sidewalks aren't swarming

Traffic in the city is not bad... (95/76 can be nightmares ) . but if you live in the city and don't take those routes it's easy and qucik to get around everything is like 10-15 minute drive if you know the detours

Real Estate is booming great place to invest

Cons for me is
Nightlife is dead but i stopped going out like that but if you're into clubbing and nightlife than this city is wack but that's because it's not a transient city like NYC/LA/ etc constantly have visitors/tourists so theres things to do every night of the week.

Opioid crisis is hitting hard here.....it's sad

Philly is pretty cool in my opinion. Had a lot of fun when I was living there. It’s more of a city for hustle and bustle. I don’t recommend raising kids there however if you’re a young person who likes the city life, Philly is a excellent choice.

Also me being from LA, I loved the city. It was different, vibrant, good bars, fun atmosphere, very eventful, Temple parties were lit, good food. I don’t understand the hate for Philly.

After Los Angeles, Philly is easily my second favorite city.

I’ve said before, I’ve enjoyed my times out in Philly. Granted I was always in the Rittenhouse or Penn area or outside in the Main Line, but had fun nevertheless. Competed in the Head of the Schuylkill at Vesper BC when I was in college and just recently was in a tournament at the Racquet Club of Phily.

I love Philly.

Philly is 2nd on my list of relocation in the next year.
