I moved to west Philly back in 96, right after JBM disintegrated. And by no means am I saying all or even most, but a lot Philly's Muslims operated like a prison gang. There were some I even knew who started following the faith because they knew they would have your back if shyt jumped off.
Remind me of when I almost got jumped by these dudes in high school over some bytch. The moment I tried to get my boys to hold me down incase it pops off, they found out that they were Muslims and the big breh was like:

"Come again"

Thanfukfully I had some dude on my step family side to hold down the marsupial. Them dudes used to do the most during my school daze.

In 'Cuse, I saw some dudes posting in their Muslim fits, but if you asked me, they look like they just did it to flex for Facebook and get some of these hoes on their dikk, I'm not trying to be judgemental but they didn't look serious, look like they still out in the streets doing shyt.

Muslims nowadays are on some other shyt.

Many are not as grounded in regards to mentality and lifestyle as back in the day; I had to explain to a person on Facebook yesterday that there's more to being a Muslim than just wearing an outfit for a day and posting pics on Facebook.

A lot of people become Muslim these days because they like the perks and perceptions of what it looks like to be one but don't really know how to be one if you get what I'm saying. In other words, they join because they think it looks cool or makes them look intellectual but not necessarily living life as one should truly live it.
Right, the outward appearance of a “life change” or new identity is appealing to some especially those who have no culture, community/brotherhood or aren’t Arabic

And it’s good for social media posts these days I guess

If Islam came without all the “bells and whistles” Arab cosplay or performative nature of fasting/praying in public groups and was just centered on inward faith, not many would be joining

They wouldn’t be able to even SEE what it means to be a Muslim.

Same goes for HEBREW ISRAELITES :snoop:

Very deep...Muslim culture is ingrained in the Philly culture

I remember prior to Christmas 95, everything felt regular...when we came back to school in Jan, a lot of kids converted.

Islam is a dominant religion among blacks in Philly

Was it ever Nation of Islam or was it just traditional Islam?

And why is it so segregated?

Doesn’t Philly have an Arab Muslim population?
