The Gentleman
Always a Gentleman!
i don't think 'phillys most wanted' was considered whack.
I’m talking about between 85 and 95. The golden era. It’s not so much that they were wack as that they were invisible compared to what was coming out of NYC.

You’re contracting yourself. You just said Philly was the 2nd biggest market before LA came through. How does that mean Philly had wack rappers in the 80s and 90s?The 80s and 90s. Wasn’t nobody checking for Philly in the golden era like that. And they was 2nd biggest market for rap before LA came though.
When was this? Pound for pound Philly has always had some of the best spittersDamn, funny how shyt changes. Philly was known for whack rappers back in the day.

Schoolly D
MC Breeze
Fresh Prince
Steady B
The Roots
Black Thought
Please don’t confuse song popularity with rapping. Philly has always, since hip-hops inception had MCs who could go bar for bar with the best rappers. That shouldn’t even be debatable. Stop confusing popularity with skill/bars.

What’s your argument? That nobody outside of NYC and LA had top tier MCs from 1985-95? or that Philly specifically had wack rappers in that era? Because you said the latterLet me make it plan for you;
None of them Nigggas you named top-tier MCs! There were no Kane,G Rap or Rakim’s coming of Philly. MC Shan wrote most of Steady and Cool C in stuff early on!
Fresh prince and jazzy Jeff stuff was too kid friendly and not taken seriously. And after about 1990 Philly fell off completely from the rap scene except for Da youngstas and the Roots.
Breh them Philly bars sticks to you like Carolina ribs brehs.
