i've seen businesses of all types with BP glass in the hood, it's not just one "line of business". dudes could stop selling liquor or zags/cigs, whatever and still need to protect themselves/the cash on hand. yall really like to paint the hood as faultless.

Not faultless, but I'm not so naive as to think these shop owners are the real victims.

I had to read the damn bill, and a couple articles to understand what was going on. :why:

So basically these businesses are obtaining liquor licenses because they provide a minimal amount of products that allow them to classify themselves as reataurants.

When they get this they serve little food, but sell things that the city councilmen deem to be destructive to the neighborhoods that they are in (liquor, including shots :deadrose:, pipes, cough syrup, etc) things that can be used for illegal activity, and they allow dealers to loiter around the premises.

The city feels the owners operate this way ONLY because they can hide behind the BP glass.

If they didnt have the BP glass they wouldnt sell the stuff that brings around the illegal activity.

:ld:....Im with it.

I don’t disagree with you. The point is that the poverty and crime will still be there, glass or not, store or not. Removal of the glass solves nothing, just as putting it up solved nothing.

If anything pass a law FORCING reinvestment into those communities.

This is exactly what needs to happen.

Why are you posting if that's all you're going to say? Whats your disagreement with the post?

Fair enough, my issue is with the "if you don't feel safe here then move" crowd. Now I don't know anything about these neighborhoods or what these store owners are up to but certainly a legitimate small business owner should be allowed to put up bullet proof glass without people feeling some kind of way about it. Even if it was in a neighborhood with zero crime, who is he hurting if it gives him some peace of mind?

They put cameras in those same neighborhoods and it didn’t deter crime. This isn’t a well thought out legislation.

Do y'all read or just emo post because it says why in the links.
No it fukking didn’t :gucci:

The article said something about how these delis are just fronts to sell drugs, but that doesn’t explain why that necessitates removing bulletproof glass in any way. The only logical conclusion I can see is that they want to punish fake restaurants by letting them get shot :francis:

Yeah, so as I suspected, these evil white law owners want philly to deal with its drug problem through Wild West street violence. Punish those store owners by letting them get shot... that’s absolutely heinous, demonic cac shyt

seems to me they need better regulation of what can be classified as a restaurant, how they allocate liquor licences, and/or what can be sold at a "restaurant". while CA is pretty liberal with the types of places you can buy hard liquor (corner stores, drug stores, etc.) it's hard as hell to get a liquor license, especially in "high crime" areas.
