For weddings Im like 50/50 between av mode and manual

I shoot video. Only setting I change is the aperture. I keep my shutter speed at 180 degrees and leave iso on auto

This is my situation, went out on a cloudy day with the lens the camera came with, pics were average at best. This is only my second time using the camera since when I bought it in the spring. Used to LOVE taking photos with my old point and shoot Sony DSC-H10 when I was an teenager. Trying to get back into the hobby.


One thing I love about this DSLR is how fast the shutter speed is, even on auto with the point and shoots I had there was an noticeable delay between photos. You can snap like five photos in five seconds with an DSLR

I barely do that, even for weddings. Culling through photos is a pain its better to take your time and take one good one that take like 5 in succession.

Back in the day they would tell you to shoot in raw and all that. JPEG saves on post production because raw photos are pretty bland, but depends what you are doing. When I travel I just shoot in jpeg, but for weddings i shoot in raw

Also now with Artificial intelligence a lot of post work can now be done with a click of a button

Shooting manual is nice for consistency when having to edit batches of photos. Also easier to correct for underexposed shadows or clipping of highlights which the auto mode can often overlook. Depending on what you’re shooting

Always shoot manual. Thing is, I actually enjoy fukking up shots with bad settings occasionally so my on-the-fly instincts have gotten better for the effort.

Not to mention the usual issue with my photos (being underexposed) is easily fixed in post.

Never. Manual will give you much more control over your shots and ultimately enable you to take better photos - also make sure you're shooting in RAW format as you'll be able to more with the photo when editing.

I'm more video and use the bmpcc4k and 6k when we're doing something in studio. But outside of that, I use Sony A7iii and a7siii with

24-105. G-master for events
18-35 g master for wide shots
Prime 50 and sigma 85 1.4 for portraits
And I just copped the laowa probe lens.

I have a Minolta, been shooting for awards and dough previously now purely a hobby/travel
