Never saw Blankman, and struggled to get through half of Meteor Man, then quit.

Breh you down bad on missing out on piff. Blankman is usually free on Tubi, Pluto, or Youtube.

Now Meteor Man, to each its own, but the reason why that movie has legs that wasn't able to walk, was the powerful message that folks need to this very day. This scene alone put the movie up there for me:

This scene was perfect for a young Joey, as despite the corniness of the flick, this was a powerful scene:

  • The radio callers describing the "flying man" and having uncertainty of his motives
  • The musical score
  • Townsend just cleaning up a area that should be a garden, playground, or even a Rec Center
Truly, a good piece of cinema that pretty much ruin the rep of Townsend because it was considered a flop. If this flick came out nowadays, it would instantly be a classic in the making. Such a shame, because this movie should have been more than just an afterthought .

I've always been a huge Robert Townsend fan. But Meteor Man was a 90s movie with a 1970s overly sentimental vibe. Boyz in the Hood came out 2 years prior. Seriously, listen to that Church "Call to the altar" keyboard music playing in the background. It was pathetic and the worst aspect of Townsends filmmaking cliches.
