Biggest reason for this is the emergence of video games. nikkas rather play 2K then dribble a real ball on a real court. It's just another proponent of the ever increasing obesity problem in America. This generation is lazy as hell. There's more convenience and ease in just staying in and browsing the internet or playing video games all day.

Dyckman is still poppin' though. :manny:
It's not like people don't play ball tho. They're just a lot less likely to hoop outside than before. Personally, I'm not sure I ever will again. Still spend a lot of time in the gym. It's better. Like everything else in the world, it's evolved so to speak

That's true...

Society has just changed also.. When I was 8 my mom would send me to the store on my bike for cigarettes or let me leave the house at 9 in the morning and not come back until it was dark.. We were everywhere doing everything.. Hopping on city buses and the whole nine..No cell phones, Amber alerts or nothing.. I couldn't imagine letting my kids loose like that..Everything they do is organized and supervised...

I was just looking at the registered sex offender database last night, and it was scary. I had over 20 offenders within 2 miles of my house, and 95% of them looked like regular people I wouldn't even give a second glance to if I saw them walking around. I would never let my kids go out unsupervised and play all day like I used to when I was young, it's just a different world now.
:comeon::rolleyes: i doubt that's the reason.

the gym i do weight training at always has the courts packed with kids and teenagers waiting to get on. access to indoor courts is easier than ever before and it's less strain on the knees, can play year-round and don't have to deal with the hot ass sun killing you. it's just better.

It's the same at my gym. If you have access to an indoor court it'd be insane to willingly go outside and play ball all day in this Texas heat.

.
I don't know if that's the worst or best thing for parents.. I looked at the list in my neighborhood and felt the same way..

It could be something as minor at them dating a 16 year old when they were 19 or it could be something way more sinister...

Yeah that shyt is. Everybody wants to be a hustler, rapper or they lazy as shyt now. Some playgrounds in this city be empty as hell.
I don't agree 100 with what your saying because cats just have more regular stuff to keep them in the house but the courts here are more empty. I think the 80's babies might be the last generation that hit the courts up like that but like @gatorking said I see more young boys in the gym playing ball with the older cats than before.

Me and my crew play every Tuesday and Sunday. There's always 20-30 people out.
this, me and my boys go about twice a week. We go to an indoor gym and pay 2 bucks and its worth it. not too crowded but enough people to run games

Plus going outside was our entertainment back then. Nowadays kids get entertained with pcs, tablets and phones. A lot of kids dont even want to go outside theyd rather stay in and be in front of a screen of some sort.

My Pops Forever RIP
First of all, Montrezl Harrell is a bytch. How you a goon in college but too shook to play outside?

Not gonna lie, even Dyckman this year has been meh compared to years past. Lots of reasons, Joe Pope got shot, games ending early cuz of the lights not being on, and the defending champs dropped out of the tournament after 2 games. If Dominican Power didn't look so dominant, I'd probably stay away.

That and unless it's No Flex Zone, 0-100, Hot nikka or We Dem Boyz, the music sucks as well.

I be wanting to play for real pick up with muthafukkas but I was shot back in 2000
Can barely lift my arm like that any more even after all that time passed
Most I can do is go take my son out shoot around with him
All he likes to do right now is dribble any damn way so its kind of a good thing for me lol

Outdoor sports is dying period. Back in the day... all we did was play football and basketball. On the street, play ground, didn't matter. We were so hood we played Up Scramble with a bunch of socks rolled together. Couldnt find a football.

Nowadays you see no kids outside playing. They in the house brehs. Playing video games. It's crazy yo, the memories. Playing 21 with like 12 nikkas was the shyt.

Now I'm :flabbynsick: status at the age of 25. Don't dare try to play pick up anymore. :noah:
