I was just looking at the registered sex offender database last night, and it was scary. I had over 20 offenders within 2 miles of my house, and 95% of them looked like regular people I wouldn't even give a second glance to if I saw them walking around. I would never let my kids go out unsupervised and play all day like I used to when I was young, it's just a different world now.

It's the same at my gym. If you have access to an indoor court it'd be insane to willingly go outside and play ball all day in this Texas heat.

Its the same world you're just a p*ssy.

I just came from ESPN.com and saw this on the front and immediatley thought someone on the coli was gonna post this with a "Plehground basketball is dying brehs" title :deadmanny:

Im reading it now but a couple of things I thought of when seeing this

1) if ESPN wants to create a belief through a story narrative they will. I often wonder if Boxing and Hockey are in as bad of a state that ESPN says they are simply they have chosen not to fukk with them anymore and have driven that point on all their talking head shows

2) If playground basketball IS dying, it may simply be a product of AAU and indoor summer leagues being more lucrative and a priority or players looking at other options when it comes to basketball. And on a non pro level it may just be kids not going out and about as others have said.

2014 is actually way safer than 1994, everywhere in america :heh:

you think chiraq and detroit are bad now  good luck spending 1990s summers in GARY like me
The world is much safer now than 20 or 30 years ago.. The problem is our access to information which fuels the paranoia...

Ignorance was bliss back in the day...

this is one of the worst replies I've ever read, and gets an immediate neg for the ignorance in the post.
I don't agree with it either but do you feel this way because of that only are or you being sensitive and thinking its a stereotype about blacks? Be honest cause I don't think its neg worthy its just silly and sound like something an older person would say about the younger generation.

The most ridiculously overused sterotypes right now are

everyone just wants to rap
everyone wants to be a hustler
glorifying prison culture

as reasons for failure

first of all THOSE THINGS JUST AREN'T TRUE. its disgusting to see it applied here especially..we're talking about PICK UP BASKETBALL as if...thats something that "wanting to be a rapper or hustler" would distract from :wtf:. OR EVEN something we should CARE about our kids doing.

just an awful post all together.

I still hoop 3-4 times a week but it's at my 24 hr fitness gym. Most nikkas I know hoop indoors, especially in the Texas summer. But even in the Winter the outdoor courts are empty. Sad, kids these days are getting mind fukked by the internet/technology at their disposal.
