And someone would deal a top 5 pick for Love or Aldridge if they were under long term deals.

The Monroe rumors and trade talk came well before Josh Smith. That's probably one of the reasons Dumars signed him, just in case David Falk follows through on his threat

:manny:

i didnt hear that (my point is more of what makes these piston fans think monroe is much better then faried
as a major Faried fan and someone who is actually surprised Monroe didn't turn out to be the p*ssy he was at Georgetown, Monroe >>>> Faried.

And Monroe could fetch a high pick if he would re-up, but no one would take that chance, RFA or not. I still don't get David Falk's burning desire to get Monroe out of Detroit unless Monroe just wants to go home to NO

no they wouldnt
as much as i like both of them games
both LA & klove dont have the star power as these so-called top picks projected

i pretty much sure the jazz, the bucks, the kings, the suns etc... rather go into next year with a hyped up lottery pick
then either one of them

If they were under long term deals, ABSOLUTELY they would.

Kevin Love is 25, Aldridge is 28. Both of them multiple time all-star bigs in their primes.

What would you rather have (money thrown out of the window and even in this case, who gives a shyt?) An all-star big IN HIS PRIME or a young big that you HOPE gives you the numbers Love and Aldridge are giving you? The only way you say no is if you have a young big you can build with (Utah has 2 of them for example) or, if you think it'll be a long time before you're good again and would rather have the 7-8 years of control.

No one would do it for those guys now because they could bolt in a year, but if you made that deal with the assurance that Love or Aldridge are signed for 3-4 years, you do it. If you're in the middle, you become a playoff team. If you suck, it jump starts the rebuilding process immediately.

Wiggins, Randle, and Parker might sell seats, this is true, but if you're not getting them, then what?

u make good points
but
not one single owner/GM/franchise is gonna past up the opportunity to have a potential face of the NBA for the next decade in a half

a franchise/city couldnt live with it/themselves if they traded away for the next lebron

that depends on a lot of things, and there aren't five potential NBA faces of a franchise in this draft whereas in this example, you have Aldridge at least, so if you have a top 5 pick, you definitely consider it.

Monroe has the skill level of a euro without the softness, what more can you ask for? I never understood the Smith signing. Does Dumar not watch other teams, he could have called someone and found out Smith has no business playing the 3.
What is the skill of a euro?
