Pitchers can celebrate after a big strikeout, but batters have to act like they're in a library?

Yes,I'm paying attention, but why then would it be ok for you to fist pump, hop and yell?

Why is it okay for a receiver to hop up and make a 'first down' motion when his team is getting blown out?

Why this, why that?

Who cares if guys react? You all sound like a bunch of whiners ... these players aren't robots, they do get excited you know.

I'm not accepting of it. I don't mind the celebrations. The WBC was awesome because the players threw that shyt outta the window. The Dominican team showed EVERYONE up. I didn't mind. When they got scored on they were ready for it too. Baseball like any sport is an emotional game. Some cultures choose to express it publicly. Others don't, and some just don't like it. Over time, I think some celebrations won't be met with the same anger. Some still will, but now guys are more willing to show emotion during games compared to the past
As they should, they work hard to get where they are at and to be able to perform at that level is reason enough to celebrate.

Wtf? The only one sounding bytchy here is you, "if he hits a hr off me, I'm retaliating". So again, I'm asking, if you're retaliating, why is it ok for you to celebrate?

When has a batter done some shyt like this

VALVERDE-CELEBRATE.gif

Well, for one, Saves (and Post-Season Saves at that) are a whole different story. It's like a Walk-Off HR: ain't shyt happening because the game is over. Now of course stuff like that can carry over, but that doesn't happen all that much (unless we're talking about hitting ppl).

Pitchers celebrating is pretty exclusive to relievers (closers especially). You don't see starters going nuts like that after getting an out. Most of the time they celebrate more to themselves if it's a particularly big out, but nothing extravagant.

The whole Batter-Pitcher celebrating dynamic is fukked anyways. Batters really don't have a means of revenge, while pitchers do. I mean, a guy goes nuts on the mound after striking you out, only thing you can do is try and get a hit in your next at bat against him (which many times isn't til the next day, at minimum, because as I mentioned, it's largely relievers), while a pitcher can take his revenge out on his very next pitch. It's fukked up, but them's the breaks.

You're being a fukking idiot. I implicitly stated that I wouldn't care if someone hit a homerun off of me

No one really cares if you hit a HR off of them enough to drill you ... it's more how you react after hitting the HR.

Never said he shouldn't. Now ... if you hit one off of me, flip your bat and walk to first ... I'm throwing up and in

unless they made a point to show me up. Sign up for some reading comprehension classes and then get back to me.

lol, you still haven't answered the question though. Why retaliate if they show you up, when you show up the batter after a big strikeout?

how is this answering the question? thats exactly what I asked you. how is me hitting a home run and flipping my bat, a green light for you to throw up and in?

what do you want players to do after a home run? salsa dance at home plate? Do a couple cartwheels rounding the bases? This ain't mlb slug fest 20-03

most of the celebration takes place in the dugout

:why: Geez, are you even paying attention ... THE ONLY TIME I CAN SEE A PITCHER RETALIATING IS IF IT'S EXCESSIVE.

I ALSO THINK A PITCHER CAN CELEBRATE EXCESSIVELY AND BE EQUALLY ANNOYING.

I'M NOT CONDONING EITHER ONE.

How is a pitcher throwin 90mph at a batters head because that batter hit a HR an celebrated a form of retaliation :mindblown:

I'd give more leeway to pitchers celebrating, just cause of the levels of ether from somebody going yard on them....you get fanned, you probably already had a 70% + chance of failure to begin with.

you dont see that type of L ever taking place when a pitcher strikes out a batter tho.

baseball etiquette is one of those things that is never clearly defined, and makes no sense.... but at the same time, it does.
