Pitchers can celebrate after a big strikeout, but batters have to act like they're in a library?

This whole "showin a player up" bullshyt has always frustrated the hell out of me with baseball. Why do these pitchers get so gatdamn sensitive when a batter hits a HR and celebrates too much for their liking? :why:

I've see pitchers get mad because a batter didn't run around the bases fast enough after hitting a HR. Then the same pitcher proceeded to bean that batter his next time up :mindblown:

If the pitcher doesn't want to get "shown up" then stop throwin HR pitches. Its as simple as that!

One of my favorite pitchers, Brian Wilson, when he played for the Giants, he would always celebrate after a saved game by crossing his forearms and point to the sky and scream. Nobody said shyt about that, and I had no problem with that.

But a batter can't even ice grill a pitcher without the pitcher gettin all mad and shyt. I don't get it!

I'd give more leeway to pitchers celebrating, just cause of the levels of ether from somebody going yard on them....you get fanned, you probably already had a 70% + chance of failure to begin with.

you dont see that type of L ever taking place when a pitcher strikes out a batter tho.

baseball etiquette is one of those things that is never clearly defined, and makes no sense.... but at the same time, it does.

Nah breh, pitchers shouldn't be so gatdamn sensitive. If they can celebrate and do antics ,then so should batters. This double standard shyt is lame

It's not even like it's THAT much of a double standard tho... y'all acting like every pitcher who gets a K is on some Gramatica type shyt, and batters who go yard aren't allowed to celebrate.

the celebrating doesn't bother me, but i do understand where the etiquette comes into play.

throwing at someone's head is one of the most bytchmade things you can do in sports. worse than committing a flagrant foul. worse than hitting a QB after the whistle. we're talking about potentially ruining someone's vision and ability to play the game through which they make a living or possibly even killing them. all because you didn't like him admiring his home run?:what:

**** will do anything to justify savage behavior

How is a pitcher throwin 90mph at a batters head because that batter hit a HR an celebrated a form of retaliation :mindblown:

Jesus. It's not solely because the batter hit a HR. And throwing at their head isn't acceptable, up and in doesn't have to be at their head. But the pussification of the game now has batters thinking they shouldn't even be pitched inside anyway, so that's a whole different story.

Up and in doesn't necessarily mean throw at their head. I don't advocate throwing at anyone's head. Pitchers do have a right to pitch inside though.

how is this answering the question? thats exactly what I asked you. how is me hitting a home run and flipping my bat, a green light for you to throw up and in?

nikka answer the question @jfkennedy

How much more annoying can y'all be? It's obvious when a batter is doing it to to taunt the pitcher, and when it's just celebrating. Like when Harper blew a kiss after hitting a homerun in the minors. If you show up a pitcher, expect him to retaliate. Nothing wrong with celebrating ...

And once more for you people who choose to misconstrue what I'm saying: high and tight isn't throwing at their head. It's the same thing as a brushback pitch to a batter that's crowding the plate.

This video is a good example of what I'm talking about. The pitcher, hits the batter as both teams are obviously going at it. Then Dom Brown hits a HR and taunts the pitcher. Then of course the next batter gets hit.

Baseball's probably my favorite sport but I agree. I don't understand why baseball has this culture of emotional repression. I think emotion and fan engagement make the viewing experience that much more exciting. I would love to see someone hit a double. Then in-between pitches have him wave his hands to get the fans pumped to try to hype up the next batter at the plate to drive in a run. But if someone were to do that in baseball they'd get drilled for it. Or have an outfielder wave his hands to get the crowd pumped up if the pitchers had 2 strikes with 2 out on a batter. This would make the game more exciting and would do more to alleviate the dead time people complain about in the game. I don't understand why grown men should have their feelings hurt cuz someone shows emotion over getting a big hit off of you. They make players who do this look classless but pitchers who retaliate look like sensitive pussies for getting mad.

Well the media used to get on Joba for wilding after he would strike someone out to end the inning.

Baseball is full of sensitive people anyway. "Oh you hit a homerun off me your last at-bat? *throws at 94mph pitch at your head* unwritten rules boi :birdman:"

Joba and strikeout in the same sentence :heh:

I think it's very easy.

If a batter strikes out, it doesn't matter, there's still 8 other guys there. If a pitcher fukked up, HE fukkED UP. So there's much more at stake for the pitcher, and he gets to celebrate if he navigates through the danger.

That's my creative take on it anyway.
