"This discomfort is essential to his enduring appeal. Rather than collaborating with phone carriers to maximize commercial gain like his big brother, he's now making a point out of rejecting sponsorship

This review seems to be more about Kanye as a person, the method in which he delivered this album, and the experiences he created as a result.

That being said, the album is good, maybe really good, but not 9.5 good. But I do appreciate him going left-field (comparative to hip-hop, but not comparative to all music genres) with his current level and status in the game ... which will no doubt impact some other albums down the line (like 808s did).

You can predict with almost 95% accuracy what you'll get from a new Jay-Z, Drake, Wayne, [insert top selling rapper here] project, but he swerved the fukk out on this one.

Why would critics be afraid of Kanye? Half the people on here thought Timberlack's effort and sideways comments put a nail in the coffin.

Somebody said in the main thread that a lot of these reviewers and journalists will get black balled if any of them come out and trash an album this big.

Knowing the way the media in general works, it sounds plausible.

I don't agree with everything Pitchfork says. Actually, I agree with less than half of their reviews.

With that being said, their reviews carry clout and for good reason. Sure, the whole hip hop board agenda is "fukk those cacs :beli:" and OK, go ahead with that opinion.

But to say they don't have well-written reviews? :beli:

They put in just as much time as any other publication :beli: their writers are just as good as anyone in the music media industry :beli:

The album being a 9.5 though? :mjpls: :lolbron: it's good but 9.5 is like hip hop folk lore status. It's not that.

wtf is this KTT

can the coli please not do pitchfork threads

the worshipping of that site has gone too far in the past couple years, it just keeps snowballing

horribly written review
Hate to be the P4K "apologist" since I don't even check for their reviews ... but ...

Here, Kanye raps about loyalty, respect, threesomes, and, yes, croissants with the urgency of someone being chased by a 30-ton steamroller. The song is pierced by a series of primal screams, pixelated outbursts that are only briefly able to halt the beat's heaving evil.
:beli: Go on about how this is horribly written after you write two sentences as nice as that.

I can get on amazon turk right now and pay a decent writer to hype up a piece of shyt. Being able to put together a well written article doesn't make you honest.
