Just because someone isn’t “innovative” or what have you doesn’t mean that they aren’t making great music that shouldn’t be talked about. Good music is good music. It doesn’t matter what style it is. So I disagree with that completely.

Part of having “good music” is being innovative :comeon:

King Krule and Fever Ray's albums are amazing.

I feel like DAMN is a...damn good album but I'm a bit baffled by the AOTY accolades. I understand why people love it of course - it's a dope album with bangers, singles, and a couple "real rap" tracks. But I figured the more mainstream sound would hurt it. It's nearly getting the same praise TPAB received, and that album was far better. But again...I will say DAMN appeals to a lot of people who may not have liked TPAB.

CTRL is a good album. Not great. It has VERY high highs but also some songs that are just whatever; not bad but I don't listen to them when I can replay Broken Clocks/Weekend/Drew Barrymore/etc.

Ultimately TDE won this year and it has completely changed my idea of what they can do. Kendrick is gucci now - he has the catalog and hype to continue doing area tours. SZA had a huge year and will get bigger next time; she can go wherever she wants next. Q had a hugely successful tour and has radio hits. Rashad had a nice tour. I remember Top/Punch talking about doing a TDE tour years ago. Dreamville beat them to the punch, with Cole taking his label on multiple arena tours. But now it almost seems stupid not to do a label tour. They have the artists to do it, their own security, their own DJs, etc etc etc. This is some Death Row shyt.

I feel like their about two years due on a TDE tour. That shyt would gross ALL the money

Damn is by far my pick for best album of the decade.

I dismissed this album and shytted on it . Went back to it and thought it was absolutely groundbreaking

Really love how hes paying homage to LA's 70 soul and black rock. Keep doing your thing kendrick, you genius
