its hardly going out on a limb. the pirates have been around 99% to make the playoffs a couple weeks now. its virtually impossible for them to lose enough ground to miss the playoffs

That's good for pittsburgh.I remember that sid bream winning run from 21 years ago they havent made the playoffs since losing that game

Maybe last year it would have been, the NL is weak this year, so a playoff berth would be a great accomplishment, being above .500 with no playoffs would be a useless consolation prize

I agree, but look at their record compared to the rest of the NL, they have to get the job and make the playoffs. I think most of the Pirates fans and players would agree that if they don't make the playoffs, then the season was a disappointment even if they finish above .500.

:smh: lost 7 of the last 9, bullpen is still strong, but starting pitching is declining other than Liriano, hitting in :trash: especially in RISP. Still think they will make the playoffs, but it looks like a Wild Card game appearance and that's it.
