Series X secured doesn't sound as good as PS5 secured. Microsoft butchered another name for their console.
XBox seems to let their engineers name their products instead of their marketing team.

Nah, the Series branding is definitely marketing team handiwork. Engineers try (keyword try) to come up with cool or slick names for things still under development without a settled upon name. Scorpio, Lockhart, and Anaconda were definitely from engineering. Then marketing had a bright idea .
The percentage doesn't matter....only the total units.
Sony may have put more consoles on deck, knowing the demand is high.
Xbox may have been hesitant because they don't want to get outhyped before launch day.
