When the top multiplayer games last generation were Fortnite, COD/Warzone, GTA Online, Apex, Siege, 2K, FC, etc.

And that hasn't changed at all this generation, then *casual gamers* aren't going to be too incentivized to leave their PS4 behind, and power users are just gonna go straight to PC to play these same games at the best performance.

I think it's obvious there's a trend in the younger gamers preferring PC more than traditional consoles.

They're all growing up watching their favorite streamers play on PC. Free online also makes it easier for parents to just let their kid have the spare PC or laptop too.
I can see that. But the main driver for the gaming industry will always be consoles. One of my biggest issues is just how un optimized a lot of the games are. There has to be a hard floor set on GPU/CPU requirements to give developers more time to make the game run the way it's supposed to run.

Yeah those are primarily the people we see complaining about games but we gotta remember they're casuals. They only play the same repeating 7 games. The issue is that people want their games to continue to be backwards compatible which is why it's more incremental now. For the foreseeable future PS/MS will be using AMD. So even with the Ps6/new Xbox. The games will run on the PS5/X/S

Consoles will be the main driver for the gaming industry the same way Toyota or Honda is always gonna have a bigger market share than Ferrari.

However, consoles gotta do a little more than marginal performance upgrades to grow that market share, because that's a lane that they're always gonna lose to PC to. PS2 did what it did cause of the DVD player, and the Switch did what it did because of the portability.

I think they're doing a pretty good job at the moment. They will always be at our PCs due to the convenience of just plugging it in and playing your game. You don't have to update drivers. You don't have to overclock your CPU. You don't have to go into the settings and turn your draw distance down. That's why games will always be released on consoles first and then a PC version later if the demand is there. The casuals that you mentioned are only buying the same six games and the price for parts are only increasing or constantly fluctuating. Bang for your buck it will never top a console.

If you're mostly a single player gamer then console is definitely the best option.

But I think if you play mostly multiplayer games, then you're going to gravitate towards PC for the obvious performance benefits for the games you're already playing, especially with how these benefits lead to direct competitive advantages. And you don't pay a subscription to play online.

We kinda seen this increased awareness around the PC vs Console debate with casual gamers and kids, with how there's so many influencers and celebrities building gaming PCs now and getting into streaming.
