It's not their game, all they did was pay to keep off Xbox and put it on stage. They had nothing to do with the development itself.
They had everything to do with the marketing and promotion of the game. That's what's at question here.

If they were play testing the game as they should have been, and then letting dude get on their stage and tell a bunch of lies, then they were complacent in dudes actions.

They slapped their name all over everything about this game. It's then very shytty of them to now try to distance themselves and blame it all on the one guy and excusing it as an "indie" game. After years closely partnering with him and trying to convince the world this was not an "indie" game but a AAA title worth of a $60 price tag.

Starkset...
This wasn't just any title. They closely tied this game to the Playststion brand. The game even says "Sony PlayStation presents" when you turn it on.

Even if they had no clue and were lead on like the rest of us, that was still incompetence on their part for not doing their due diligence with a title they closely tied their brand to.

Either way it's not a good look to now throw dude under the bus after they partnered with him for years.

Had the game delivered, shu would have been in interviews praising the partnership and Sony's work to bring the title to fruition.

Personally I don't see how PlayStation wasn't aware and why they didn't adjust marketing and expectations accordingly unless they were truly trying to stay hands off outside of the money and the platform which if is the case is irresponsible. Maybe they really believed in this project's vision. They will learn from this...

Sony might learn, but hello games is probably done.

And really the partnership with Sony is to blame. Obviously dude deserves the blame for his own lies. But he wouldn't have been thrown on stages and interviews trying to sell a $60 game had he not signed with Sony. If they were gonna market the game as a AAA $60 title. They should have giving him some AAA $60 support.

In this case the idea of being "hands off" except for the money and platform, was worse than being more hands on with the project.

Sony gets to move on like nothing happened, and hello games has probably made their last game :smh:
