Your opinion :manny:

Game has insane depth. An insane amount of unlockables. Randomly generated items which can synergize with each other to create new abilities. (literally hundreds) Randomly generated levels. A huge skill curve from beginner to expert player. Great controls which are accessible but also take a while to master. Great boss fights. Constant stream of new rewards. Some let's play on youtube have gone into the 500-700 episode range almost all with a new run with different synergies and items.

Game doesn't make the best first impression, but imo it's a stellar rogue like. Maybe you just aren't a rogue like fan.

I know metacritic doesn't ultimately mean shyt, but a lot of people liked it.

He could just be put off by the aesthetic theme of the game. I think the game is dope, but very disturbing due to that theme. I'm interested in playing it and somewhat, surprisingly put off a bit by it as well(I say surprising cuz I'm rarely offended or put off of shyt, as I'm very desensitized, lol). Game is a trip tho, so I can see how some would be put off by it, despite it's amazing depth and mechanics.

Has nothing to do with aesthetics

The mechanics suck IMO, played through a couple levels and its just not fun.

How the fukk can't you shoot diagonally or aim?:stopitslime:

You on your own then on that one. Gameplay is pretty dope. Especially from what I've seen with all the abilities you can acquire later in the game.

As for that, well, maybe cuz of it being homage to old school zelda.

First off, Binding of Isaac is a great game (BoI, Guacamelee and Rogue Legacy are my top three PSN drops).

Second, if you have a PS3 and you've had PS+, you've eaten really well for the past couple of years.

Third, I'm expecting a better showing from PS4 offerings when the catalogue fills in. Right now, I can't even complain. That Spy game was ill, Binding of Isaac woulda never gotten a look without PS+ and I've taken advantage of the discounts (keeping those games even if your subscription ends is nice). If they go for an instant collection run again, that'll be when it picks up. I just stocked my collection off flash sales anyway.

Y'all be hyping these indies too much some time. Granted some of them deserve it, but to call binding if Isaac "spectacular " is a huge stretch. Even if you like the game you can admit that its flawed and plenty of other games do it better.

Go into detail as to why it's flawed.

You can't aim. And you can't shoot diagonally.
The whole game is designed around that though. Some items circumvent that (homing tears, azazael brimstone) And it emphasizes positional awareness and dodging. It's kind've what makes the game what it is.

Is Halo 1 and 2 flawed because there isn't sprint and ADS? Or is that what makes that game special?

This game would be completely broken with more than 4 direction aiming, just not how it's structured, it's PART of the games mechanics intentionally.

But to each their own, I can't tell you what to enjoy.

Nah breh. A twin stick shooter without the ability to aim diagonally is not a good look. As far as I'm concerned the game IS completely broken without the feature.

A control limitation shouldn't be touted as an important game mechanic. They should have made the A.I. more interesting/challenging to fight without placing that arbitrary limitation there.

And metal slug added diagonal aiming as they moved into more modern times. In the past it was a limitation of the hardware.

PS2 couldn't handle diagonal aiming now? :francis:(metal slug 3)

How'd Vectorman pull it off on Sega Genesis ? :ohhh:(8 directions)

But all jokes aside you don't like the game it is what it is :manny:

Also there are spread items in BoI and items that do allow diagonal shots.

Hardware as in the controler and A.I. routines.

With limited buttons it was very difficult to put in diagonal aiming. With an extra stick in the controler allowing 360 degrees of aiming, that challenge is no longer there. Also back then A.I. Routines were very expensive to the hardware. Adding in diagonal aiming made that even more difficult.

Keep in mind BoI was made for AWSD and up down left right controls on PC. Then ported to consoles. You are better off using the D Pad and triangle square circle x to shoot.

Not really (I mean I get why you say it is) a twin stick shooter perse. It's and AWSD rogue like.
