But a lot of us don’t have any interest in renting and streaming games.
That's what gamepass is , and they are trying to rival it.
They should also allow you to download the games on PsNow instead of streaming.

Microsoft offers two services, live and gamepass aren’t one thing. So why would plus and their rental service be one service?

I’m cool with my current arrangement. Leave plus alone :hubie:

I think Sony’s service, while having third party content, will leverage legacy 1st and third party content from all its devices(ps1/2/3/4/psp/vita/vr)

They won’t do day and date for their first party aaa titles, but most likely add ps5 first party titles months afterwards. Like 6-12.

A combined sub price with ps+ as well (thats hopefully cheaper than the two apart)

roll out to more countries as well

increase streaming fidelity to 1080p.

I think that’s a feasible start for a “PS pass”.

How is that competition to gamepass.
Aint the library of games on gamepass the main selling point? you pay whatever a month , and you get access to these games and also our first/some 3rd party games day 1.

By bundling ps plus with ps now , you get the benefits of ps plus , and the library of PS2/3/4 games.
They just need to give us the option of being able to download them.

They should also add more of their PS1/PS2 library to Ps Now.

They begging for monthly subscription rentals for eventual GAAS. Bethesda and Halo are gonna start filling their games with MTX like Ubisoft does.

They’ve already said, developers are primarily making more money because of add-on’s and in game purchases. Thats gonna be the long term sell. Games that come out, and continue to sell you shyt, thats why they are making Halo multiplayer free cause they gonna run it like fortnite/war zone. Thats gonna be the way the industry trends for these game services

They’re fooling themselves if they think microsoft are gonna be putting out complete AAA games on gamepass day one that looks like Sony’s first party.

Halo Infinite is a platform for the next ten years, dev says

I’d be pleasantly surprised if Sony can do it :ehh:

It’s one thing to build a streaming platform of mostly back compat games...but Gamepass isn’t that :yeshrug:

M$ Is a trillion dollar company sinking billions into Gamepass buying devs, and all their first party games drop day one.

How can Sony compete with that :patrice:

They can't, that's why it won't happen except in some b*stardized fashion. Playstation division is 25% of the company. Playstation supports the company, that's why can't be dumping money like Microsoft is. That is why Sony is trying to leverage their IPs to the movie and television side. Unbeknownst to most people it appears, especially on the heels of the chasing AAA games, Sony is going to try to sell us the same game over and over this generation as AAA. Third party single player games. They will be good at the very least with a few possibly be great/stellar. With the exception of Gran Turismo as a racer of course. I'm looking at all of my PS4 games from them and what do I think I won't get on the PS5. Driveclub sequel? Nope, Wipeout sequel? Nope. Killzone sequel? Nope. Maybe a Bloodborne remake by Bluepoint but my point is, they've become risk averse. That's why the money hatting of games like Deathloop and FF16 makes sense because it is cheaper than developing something themselves.

We sit here and yes, it seems odd to say this as Sony, between the two companies, have as of now, a dominant mind share but it is precarious in nature. I'll be one of the last people to get Gamepass. I do prefer physical games. That said, I recognize that A: It is inevitable that consoles get to this point of streaming and B: I'm already in the minority when it comes to this kind of game consumption looking at existing game purchases around the world. Most are digital and most will not have a problem with a gamepass model because most people don't care about ownership nowadays. They aren't married to the idea of physical anything. Most people stream music in their cars, they don't use cds anymore. Most people watch Netflix or other services. Blu-Rays don't sell crazy anymore. Why would gaming be different?

So, to the original point. I agree with your post wholeheartedly with two points to add.

Point #1 It's not like Microsoft is doing anything special, that's why I keep saying that this is a battle of attrition now. Bleed all competitors dry. Phil got the fabled warchest open.

Point #2: They will get home on most of those games that are striving to be AAA. I've been watching the ascent of all of these teams and the likes of people that they are bringing onboard. A lot of this points to the open flowing of money for talented people but Microsoft is getting them and investing in the studios.

Microsoft is doing this across the board.

The battle is basically money now, the games are the focus but in many ways, they are the proxy to something greater. Phil has convinced Satya that the future of Microsoft runs through Xbox and until that changes, you will see things like the high dollar spending on developers and subsequent building up of the developers. Games now take time to get to fruition but when I see how game companies lauded for a technology like Ninja Theory is for motion capture use this for their games before Microsoft money came.

Brehs, they got people buying shyt from IKEA and Amazon in this video and recording shyt in conference rooms. :mjlol:This was 2015 on some high school video recording shyt.

To this in 2021

A world class mocap studio in their own headquarters

Varying levels of this is happening in every site. I have no idea how long money goes for trillion dollar companies but obviously, it goes a very long way. They ain't bullshytting.
