I'd listened to Menace and came away unimpressed ... got this album a few months after it dropped, and I've probably played "Racing" more than any other song this year :ohlawd:

I didn't sit down to listen to this album until about five years after it dropped, and to this day I kick myself for waiting that long ...

definitely agree with Trap Lord and Watching Movies

another one was Vinnie Paz's solo album a few years back. I didn't like Paz and only listened to a few JMT tracks for Stoupe's production, but Paz did his thing on the solo album

Mos Def - The Ecstatic....dude dropped two frisbees in a row and then this gem
Bubba Sparxxx - Deliverance.....always thought he was a corny gimmick, but this album is really fukkin dope
Cunninlynguists - Dirty Acres.....this group gets lauded on the net but I never really dug them until this

Big Biz randomly sent me a link for Homeboy Sandman's The Good Sun a few years ago and I had it in rotation that whole year

Just this year, this Denzel Curry album is hard as fukk and dude can rhyme his ass off...hadnt heard of him before and always thought SpaceGhostPurp was kinda wack

Both these albums are great...That BHO is 4.5/5 and that Le$ is some of the smoothest shyt from this year...mixtape of the year really

When I first saw the "Hit the Floe" video on BET rap city, I thought that shyt was pure garbage :snoop:

Then when the Dirty album came out and i heard Rollin Vogues, then 6 Deep Creepin, I was like :gladbron:

Listened to the rest of the album, and I was a fan for good!

After Rhythm and Gangsta and Paid the Cost Albums, I was ready to give up on Snoop. But, I picked up Blue Carpet treatment on a whim and was not expecting much....that damn album never left my car for the entire year of 2007! It was the Snoop album I was waiting for since Doggystyle...Snoop sounded hungry, the production was great, and the flow of songs transitioned perfectly like he was telling a story....still one of my favorite West Coast albums of all time!

Other examples of albums that surprised the hell out of me:

1)De la Soul-3 Feet High and Rising

2)Xzibit-Speed of Life

3)Mack 10-Mack 10
