Why is it that waiters are always talking about their hopes and dreams and why they deserve to get treated better than the guy behind the register at McDonald's? I'm not necessarily directing this to you, but it's something I noticed. Y'all be sounding like strippers with the sob stories. Nobody gives a fukk.
But thats the thing...the public *does* give a fukk for whatever reason, and thats what I dont get. Somehow in American culture its considered a crime against humanity to not provide a >20% tip, and if you dont you should be poisoned because of it. But outside of the service industry, workers who are underemployed are looked down upon, and told to suck it up and better themselves if they dont like their earnings --- but naw, waiters and bartenders are somehow different.
What kills me are these sob stories about the service industry and their hard work, and why we should respect that and compensate them accordingly. Yet, these same waiters show complete disdain towards the public they serve. How often do you hear from them "IF YOU CANT AFFORD TO TIP WELL, DONT EAT AT A RESTAURANT AND GO TO BURGER KING"! So let me get this straight: the hard working man who doesnt make much, but wants to take his daughter to a nice place on her birthday shouldnt go because he can only afford the meal and a modest tip? Another man shouldnt take his wife to a sit down joint on their anniversary because he cant splurge on a 30% tip?
The aforementioned are bad people, and the waiters who wipe snot in their food because they didnt get what they want are good people?
