It has more to do with how he left Orlando and his beef with Kobe then anything the media said or wrote about him.

So, people hate Dwight because of his "beef" with Kobe?

But Shaq had beef with Kobe, but people love Shaq

He used to be the leading vote getter in all star ballots until Kobe tried to pull his card and he stood up for himself. The LA media & ESPN killed him for it and turned him into a hate figure. His popularity hasn't recovered since.

People like to gang up on folks that do things that they don't understand/agree with...especially if the person is considered soft. If Dwight does all the same shyt but has a mean mug and says the right tough guy shyt then there is nowhere near the hate.

Then there is the Kobe beef and leaving the Lakers high and dry. If he leaves Orlando like that and goes to LA and is buddies with Kobe then there is nowhere near the hate.
