It's Hollywood man. And it's not just rappers. Well, they are most likely to get shot cuz they probably in the hood or banging something (that happens in Chicago, NYC and ATL too) but other celebs deal with LA crime as well. They car jacking, robbing homes, stealing celebrity pets, etc out there. LA gonna prey on their rich and famous.

That's why the smart celebs are lowkey when they in LA. They damn near wear a disguise and change the way they walk and move so folks don't notice.

Rappers gotta know you can't be on social media showing where you at in that exact moment.
