The first time I experienced a crackdown I was like damn, no girls. I get in town and there were still girls. It was subdued but that's it. People told me before that it was a normal thing and not to worry, they were right. some developer paid a bribe, the authories show good faith effort, it fails and things go back to normal. The local polititians got paid and said hey we tried.
But the President has land up there so he wants to make a play to sell it to delevopers. The Mayor of the town owns Classico's (an old school hoe club) and has a piece of the club at the Playa Chaquita Casino (another place filled with hoes) dude is in another political party so the President could get rid of a political rival (not the Mayor but a Senator from Santiago) and buy up the coastline and sell it to developers.
But you're right Sosua is a small beach town of 15,000 people why go there if you can go to Puerta Plata or Caberete? Granted Sosua has the best swimmable beach in the area but Playa Dorada is decent and Caberete has water sports. The draw for Sosua has been the girls in the Passport Bro era and before that a cheap beach vacation for middle class people from Santiago. No way middle class people in Santiago spends anywhere near the money that even the brokest Passport bros spend.

You could go to Sosua and not meet someone from Sosua ever. Even if you counted the whole of Sosua it's only 15K people outside of Caberete the rest is small ass farm towns.

Keep in mind that Caberete doesn't have female hoes (they have male hoes for Passport sisters) but food and accomodations are cheaper in Cab than the Sue. So even if you wanted to go to the Sue you could go to Sosua beach to swim ( do not swim in Caberete beach unless youre a really good swimmer) and try to meet girls on the beach or in Bailees and get a cab to Cab for like 600 pesos each way.
