That jeapordizes the image of law enforcement in that area, so yes, they could def fire her, especially.in an at-will employment state. Most places of employment really care about public image, and all employees are representatives of said image, on or off the clock. When employees tarnish that image, they are viewed as a liability and are often removed so that these entities can distance themselves and maintain clean public relations. So you're happy if cops can fly the confederate flag without repercussions?

They've shown that values which are forced into hiding tend to decrease over time. When they're allowed to be open about shyt without consequences, it spreads much more easily. If you force a Confederate to hide his love of the Confederate flag, then even his own kids are less likely to reflect his values than they would if he was "open and proud".
