I don't agree with that, I think KRS got a better discography personally, along with quite a few others too. Like K-Rino, Pac, Nas, but I love Face's work though, huge fan, it's just hard to compare such great artists, everyones gonna have differences in opinions on that.

I agree that its subjective, but for me all the artists you named have great discographies but they dropped atleast one dud, incuding KRS, where Face never dropped a bad album, so different strokes I guess

What's y'all criteria for classic? I think y'all being too loose. To me Criminal Minded, By All Means Necessary, Return of the Boom Bap (arguable) are classic. Criminal Minded is a G.O.A.T. contender.

What's wrong with that album breh?

I really dislike that album personally. There's a lot I didn't like about it, one being lack of content. I preferred College Dropout, Late Registration and even Graduation by far. But it had one or 2 great songs.

I think 3 is fair, to me classic is something that is timeless and can play whenever, 10 years later, 20 etc. And still is dope. And also it still be amongst the illest shyt, Edutainment and Sex and Violence still sound crazy even today to me.

And Face has 2-3 classics tops.

Grip It!

Mr Scarface is back

And since the whole world insists on it being so, the diary.

But all classics aren't built the same.

Yeah, I respect your opinion a lot, you know your shyt. And I feel where your coming from, if your talking consistency you have an even better point, I didn't dislike any Face album. While KRS may have had an occasionally weaker project, Nas I wouldn't say was REALLY that weak on his albums, just not to his usual standard on a few occasions, K-Rino again I agree with you, a few albums where wasn't his best too. So if your saying most consistent I can very much understand that, even though Pac to me possibly is the most, as I liked every Pac album, that Pac's Life shyt don't count cause that ain't his fault lol. Yeah no doubt fam, Face is a good choice, he has a great body of work.

It's also interesting to me how mic ratings and publications sometimes dictate the publics opinions on an album rather than the other way round. I'm glad I can objectively judge on what I hear rather than follow what I read. They get some shyt right no doubt, but some shyt far wrong too.

No. The opinions of geeky ass Israeli-Cacs in the hip-hop media, who can't even relate to the content & subject matter on most of these songs/albums have no bearing on the opinions of the majority of the hip-hop public by and large.... if that was the case, Illmatic would've went x10 platinum instead of struggling for years just to go gold in a time when rappers signed to majors were going gold in their sleep.

Speaking of which, and to expound on your point... are you aware that the person behind the Illmatic internet meme of that album being such a "revolutionary and groundbreaking, lyrical masterpiece" is based upon the ONE SINGLE OPINION of the creature below :heh:

Rino dropped some amazing albums though: Stories from a Black Book is one of the best albums to come out of Texas and his albums starting with Fear No Evil are all pretty damn great until Alien Baby

As for Pac's Life, :mjlol:

I don't want to comment on this lady as I don't know her or anything about her. But in general it's real a lot of these motherfukkers aren't REALLY Hip Hop. I agree some of these people don't relate, they don't understand the PAIN or REALNESS of a Pac or a K-Rino. Basically at their core, their hood/street artists, that rep the people, not about just the technical side.

No doubt, I love K-Rino's work, am a huge fan. Can't rate him highly enough. No doubt, I enjoyed your contributions to that other thread where you spoke about SFTBB. I think even beyond that his ish has been very consistent. I'm not sure I was keen on one of the Triple Darkness series though, I forget which ones, but the beats weren't doing the brother justice on that to me.

Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary are certified hip-hop classics, whether you like them or not. If they aren't classic albums, then I don't know what is.

I also think Return of the Boom-Bap is a solid classic

It's a close call when it comes to Ghetto Music, Edutainment and Sex & Violence. You could argue either way. But I will include those as well on my list

So he has SIX classics

I'd imagine most people that did are probably just hating and haven't heard the work, maybe the odd person who genuinely feels zero but most people on here just see KRS and they shook of knowledge so their first instinct to diss. They are intimidated he's so much ebtter than their favourite bullshyt rappers. 6 is a fair opinion, and when you think about that in contrast to most people it's incredible, people are disagreeing on teh albums too so shows how great his body of work is.

That's the individual behind the Illmatic mythos. Miss Info. Her one single opinion and 5-mic rating on Illmatic is what alot of hip-hop message board nerds use to justify the supposed "greatness" of that album.

"but...but...but.. the source gave it 5 mics therefore it has to be considered one of the greatest albums evar!!!!!"

It goes to your point about a certain segment of rap fans are unable to think for themselves and NEED validation from Israelis-Cac's and other miscellaneous mystery meat that make up the hip-hop media/industry in order to both enjoy and form an opinion about the quality of the music they're listening too.

When that rating came about as a result of the one single opinion of some rat eating gook broad:pachaha:

I don't agree with the racial insults/stereotyping, it isn't about the race but the Hip Hop in them or not. I don't know anything about Miss Info so can't comment.

For real though, so was she the one who gave it 5 mics? Was there not a committee within The Source?

I do agree with some not thinking for themsleves and being spoonfed by media. K-Rino is a good point, he has albums that if critically acclaimed they would be on his dikk hard., even though he would actually deserve the praise. But they don't give correct props now but would if it was lauded, I don't like that shyt.
