I don't even think I want him..

Dejounte and him would give me DeRozan and Aldridge vibes lol...
How? Aston and DJ are actual defenders. Maybe on offense there’s similarities, but that can be masked with defense, and three point shooters. Plus neither can create a shot like the other two could that wasn’t a paint point

If the spurs hit on Lonnie and/or Luka I think the tone of our conversation is different..

The problem with the Spurs going all in now is whoever you put around Dejounte won't be good enough to move the needle where we put fear in the league

I'm beginning to see the light..

It can't be masked by defense..

What made the offense go is when the big men like Duncan/diaw/splitter were able to make the quick passes to open up the offense for the cutters and secondary movement...

Which lead to easy points and more 3s..

We lost a whole dimension when Aldridge couldn't INSTANTLY figure out what to do...

Plus this Ayton kid gonna want his "touches" as soon as he lands in San Antonio..I pass..

I want the French Riviera

There’s drawbacks imo between the comparison. On one hand DD and LMA were such putrid defenders(particularly LMA later on), that the combo of DJ and Ayton would be better off rip. Aytons not a perfect defender, but LMA was 2016 Dirk bad on defense those later years. I think Ayton is so used to not being a primary option that he is more liable to make those quick passes than LMA ever was. Of course he’s going to want more touches, but his offensive game is predicted on strictly being back to the back or facing up like LMA. With the more touches, sure Ayton is going to be back to the basket, but he’s still a huge lob threat. DJ also isn’t iso dependent like a DeMar. On the other hand, when you need a bucket are those the guys you want to really get you clutch baskets. I saw DJM get some clutch buckets last year, but I saw him struggle heavy when forced to the perimeter. nikkas can say LMA and DD were unclutch but they could at least create and make tough shots

I don't think Ayton is that guy...lol

Mentally I don't think he wants it and that's an alarming thing for a 7 footer...

He gonna get his stats, but I don't trust him to bring it home when the chips are on the line..

Aldridge making tough shots usually meant the spacing around him was tight because teams knew he was a ball stopper..
