Posters are saying today is way better than the 90s. Is that true?

I've read numerous posts like this on the Coli saying that the 80s & 90s were over glorified and that today is way better.:patrice::comeon::hhh:

Hate that post nostalgia with kids reminiscing about the 90s. It was ok but today is way better.

I hear a lot of it in rap. They already did it improve on it.

Tbh the only rapper I've heard that takes that 90s style to another level is Payroll Giovanni. The other guys are stuck in the 90s

The 80s was very violent, so I can understand that

But here's my thing, nikkas today are complaining about everything. High rent, high gas, high car payments, high food.

The 90s - 2003 will always be the GOAT years strictly on cost of living. If you made $35,000 in 2001 you was GOOD.:wow: We not even talking about this sorry as social media, microwaved movies & music, and camera phones everywhere.

I'll see your quote and raise you:

At some point in 2042 someone will make a thread called "Its time to admit that the 20's was a fun decade" as they sit there listening to rappers that sound like R2D2 freestyling on meth over a beat made from TV static and the sound of DNA being hollowed out.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be but I truly feel those raised by screen are intuitively aware (and missing) the innocence of discovery we 80s babies accepted as standard.

Now the world comes to you whereas back when we went to it. Big difference. That and the corpratizing and flattening effect of the web as I spoke about elsewhen as each town and the girls therein had their own vibe and flex. Now the game is becoming far more generic as everyone chases the same standard and thus all is interchangeable.

The random levels of violence were crazy though before the advent of CCTV as people would get wild, dip and no one would see a thing.

Also there was the newness of evolution and life pre wholesale terrorism was very different and carefree in comparison.

The flaw in your post is teenagers today are wishing they were born in the 80s & 90s. These aren't just nostalgic adults.

Even if what you say is true, pound for pound, everybody pretty much agrees the 90s were the GOAT.

I'd rather live in a dangerous world with more living options than an expensive unaffordable utoptia. And that's a point you not touching. Everything is expensive as shyt. Back in the days a warehouse job was all you needed. Now you need a Master's degree and 5 years experience to work an entry level burger technician.

2007-2014 was peak
But overall life is better now than >>1997
Ehhh really from my recollection 2000-2005 felt dope. People like me who were familiar with computers and the Internet could hop on get music, movies, apps etc for free and everything was the wild west just watchout for viruses. So you had the convience of the Internet But everyone didn't have Internet access or smartphones you still had people outside, people at the music stores, people at the movies, TV shows were still social events.

So I had the best of both worlds. Finding that new movie shorty wants to see, burning it to DVD and inviting her over before Netflix n Chill was a thing :wow: :wow: :wow:

That is exactly what I said. Reread the message because they feel something is missing and thats why they're wishing to be back when. That and lots of romanticizing online, media distortion and straight up fabrication in the mix.

In terms of the cost of living you could go back and be Richie Cunningham with a big house, nice car, wife not working with just you doing a 9-5 shift. That is if you could avoid getting lynched but you get my point. I don't think their problem is the money. Its the fact that everything now is mediated via screens and they have to compete globally whereas we were just interested in being the top shotta on the block and lived life directly, dangerously and freely.

Kids now come up with big screen HD in each room, PS10s and all kinds of ish whereas we had broken down TVs that showed cartoons in our living room and a handful of channels along with a shaky bootleg VHS you watched again and again as you waited to dub a single off the radio with your fingers set to time it perfect.

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.

anybody that wasn't around in the 90's would time travel to 1995 and when they need some kind of information or if they need to make a phone call, they would reach in their pocket and pull out a hand full of lint. then immediately be like..."nevermind send me back."

Word. Thats what these new jacks don't click is that the pace of life was almost glacial in comparison as you had to put that work in in all respects. No on demand entertainment at your fingertips.

It bugs me out sometimes when I think how much easier it all is since the advent of digital but what a lot want is a hybrid of then and now, held together by imagination and wishful thinking.

Like Synthwave in a sense which inspired this as its all interconnected:

What a lot of people don't click is that the Game has a finite amount of energy to process this realm and all in it. Meaning when something rises (tech) another (humanity) must dip to balance out the processing of this reality show. Thats a deeper topic. Its also why the global population will drop in ways dramatic before the dystopian future truly kicks in.

Round and round, round we go....
