Lol. I’m a medical professional and a hypochondriac—I know about it mostly because I need to know about it but I see so much misinformation that I can’t help but come with actual facts.

Plus, the more educated people are about it the less likely I am to catch it.

Take it from someone who sees people diagnosed with this virus daily— the nikkas in here saying they’ve never had bumps, that they get a “full panel” every year (yet they’re fukking 5-6 different women each year), say dumb shyt like I heard you can get it from toilet seats, and saying you can’t catch it unless you have an active outbreak are the ones most likely to be carriers.

The catch is you can transmit it that way even if you aren’t having an outbreak. Most people transmit it when they are not having an outbreak, that’s why it’s so widespread.

Canker sores and herpes sores are two different things.

I know I get the cold sores every now and then. Comes for like 4-5 days then is gone for like 6-7 years. I'd imagine that's how the HSV-2 is. Comes for a few days, is a nuisance, and then goes. From what my doctor has said as well, the stigma behind the disease is actually worse than the actual disease.

I think you mean cold sores. That’s what herpes blisters on your mouth are called. They’re really no different than the bumps you can get on your genitals, just one is more stigmatized than the other. HSV1 likes the oral area more and HSV2 likes the genitals more, but you can get either strain in the opposite area. The rise in oral sex/ass eating means a lot of people are coming in with the “cold sore strain” on their genitals and ass. You can absolutely pass/get herpes even when someone’s doesn’t have an outbreak. That’s actually when it’s usually passed because most people wouldn’t sleep with someone with an active outbreak. You usually get it because the person you’re sleeping with “looks” clean—but they’re still silently passing the virus onto you.

I went to planned parenthood to get checked 2 weeks ago.

Doctor said the CDC doesn't even recommend herpes tests because it's so common.
