Thread title is still dead wrong - prevalence of HSV-1 is around 48% HSV-2 around 12%. You can get HSV-1 genital symptoms, but it is much less common to transmit HSV-2 from genital to oral. On top of that, having HSV-2 can increase risk of contracting HIV or passing HIV.

Whatever way you want to spin it, NOT “practically everyone” has herpes, and having HSV-2 is far from normal or harmless.

We're all talking about genital herpes here.
The reason the statistic was combined in the video was to try and normalise genital herpes by equating it with the virus that gives you cold sores or the virus that gives you chicken pox.

This is from the official cdc website:

How common is genital herpes?
Genital herpes is common in the United States. More than one out of every six people aged 14 to 49 years have genital herpes.

Somebody fukking lying in this thread or just ignorant.

More than 1 in 6 people have the shyt. That’s still a shyt ton of people.

If you have a body count of more than 6 then there is a high chance you have the shyt and don’t even know it.

Incorrect dumbass. Transmission isn’t anywhere close to 100%, so it’s not like having sex with 6 people gives you a 16.6% chance of contracting HSV-2. Matter fact, condom use reduces transmission rate by 96%.

Negged for irresponsible misinformation.

Incorrect yourself, stupid ass.

MORE than 1 in 6 person has genital herpes so having sex with 1 person you have a greater than 16.6% chance you are having sex with a person with genital herpes. Having sex with 6 people = statistically speaking there’s a high chance you’ve slept with ONE person with genital herpes. There’s a 33% chance you have NOT at 6. 27% at 7...etc.

You’re also assuming condoms protect the same from men to women and women to men. Again, fukking wrong.

Condoms Reduce Women's Risk of Herpes Infection, But Do Not Protect Men

You’re also assuming people have sex once then that’s it. Which is largely not the case.

So no you’re wrong. And a snippy little bytch.

You’ve been a pretentious little fakkit all throughout this thread. fukk you.

Having sex with 6 people may expose you to HSV-2 once, but single exposure doesn’t equal contracting it. Studies that look at transmission rate PER EXPOSURE show it’s much lower than 16.6 percent - your point of multiple sexual encounters with one person is irrelevant. Also, study you posted is from 2001, more recent studies show that condoms do actually protect men from HSV-2.

You’re the one being all emotional and triggered breh, not me. Whatever insults you want to throw at me, you still wrong.

I agree it is very common. People need to just assume everyone has it and take the necessary precautions.

People think they can look at a person and tell if they are "clean" or not...total BS.

And all the people claiming they have been tested, some people test negative even when they are positive.

I’m pretty sure this is part of the reason healthcare providers don’t bother testing for it unless the person explicitly asks. A test that regularly returns false positive/false negative results is basically useless

I don't buy the statistic. I've fukked a lot of women raw and I don't have it. I've even fukked women who had it, and I still don't have it.

Yes, I've been tested. Yes, I've specifically asked for HSV-1 and HSV-2.

So either the stat is wrong, I'm statistically extremely lucky, or I'm naturally immune.

:blessed:

Edit: Just remembered I'm not that lucky. I've had chlamydia and HPV before. Still no herpes tho.

HPV doesn't go away either unless you've been vaccinated.
