Maybe it's because I've been blessed with a pretty stable life both financially and health wise thus far (Hope it stays that way) I never really had to ask God for "Big shyt" but I had an interesting talk with an older dude when I was like 17-18 talkin' about all you should really do is pray to god to help you do shyt or deal with the aftermath of shyt if it ain't work out instead of using him as a damned genie and then falling to pieces when shyt don't go your way.
As a Caribbean breh I've seen so many people get DEEP into Christianity and start professing shyt "God's gonna give me X, in his name! I shall have the victory! AMEN!" shyt don't happen and then they left at this sorta spiritual crossroads.
I asked, prayed & Donated. got nuttin. God ain't real
I ain't get 'cause I need to pray/donate more.
So they either stop believing as much, get jaded with G.O.D. or feel that they didn't get it 'cause they didn't give back enough, they didn't pray hard enough, and they sorta go into a mania
with that shyt, but alot of folks like that normally come from less than stellar backgrounds.
Example, this chick I know who was all like "Blah BLah Date, My driving test, God done spoke to me, I'm gonna get my license and do blah blah, In his name! The Victory!" ....shyt rolled around and passed, I asked her about that shyt and she was all like "You remembered that? Oh, nah, The guy this...and That happened."
I was like "Yooo...why didn't you focus more on practicing instead of believing that Jesus would just magically take the wheel and steer your ass into a passing grade? Why didn't you pray to the good lord above to help you get the shyts instead of just asking him to deliver that shyt to you automatically?"
She all like "What do you ask God for?" I'm like "lol. Help, bytch. Help me to do this, or help me to deal with that. Outside of that shyt, prayers for protection, but mostly I give thanks for all that he blessed me with
."
Dealing with religious fanatics and their unwavering beliefs is tiring, though so I just keep my mouth shut on that shyt more than half the time.
