Umbanda is really into that because it was created as the Brazilian religion, since it's a mix of native, African, Catholic, and Spiritist beliefs. Pretty much all the major religions of Brazil before these evangelicals arrived

I dunno how voudou works but you can see a lot of rituals on the streets of rio, even people I know that are atheist or hardcore Christian believe it has power

It's the same with voudou. It's two parts of voudou (three if you count that hollywood movie crap), it's the spiritual and mystical. The spiritual is what we've been talking about. The mystical part is the spells and black magic done by bokors (sorcerers). Bokors are usually for hire though. Hougans and Mambos are like priest. Usually they assist you on your path or if you're sick help you with natural herbal medicines.

i always wondered about gods dilemma on 9-11

they prayed to him to hit the buildings with the planes, and then the people on the 100th floor prayed to him that theyd make it out

I recall praying everyday for others/extrinsic hopes all the way up until the conclusion of my religious indoctrination/experiment.

Distinctively, one specific prayer entailing ending human suffering, this was after a first hand experience with massive instances of infant/child death, extreme poverty, genocide, disease etc. I prayed when I was face to face with it....and when I was starkly removed from it. The contrast of existence between my life in the U.S. vs the fragile existences elsewhere baffled me. The last semi-coherent effort with prayer involved these questions?

Is collective prayer more powerful than individual prayer? I surely am not the only person praying for ending such things specifically.

Why pray to end suffering if the nature of suffering is Gods plan? Then...why pray for anything if it all is Gods plan.

No but I occasionally get desperate in the hard times and try it out just in case. It never worked when I grew up in the church and was very devout either.
