Hillary attempted to make that connection and people didn't care. Alot more people like Bernie in the primary because he was running against Hillary. The general would have been a different story. Especially with Bernie catering to the LGBT community and minorities. That was part of the reason those rustbelt voters didn't go for Hillary because they felt ignored. I don't think they would have felt any less ignored with Bernie as the candidate. also could you imagine Trump on the campaign trail talking about socialism and aligning it with communism. He would have had a field day with that and his supporters would have ate it up.

Trump had overall 60% unfavorable rating. He didn't even get as many votes as Romney.

Bernie was touting a message that would affect all people in the country. Similar to Obama with an optimistic, "can do" and collective attitude. HRC talked about herself a lot, her past a lot.

The messaging would have been different.

And if the worse they can do is call Sanders a commie, thats much less than "lock her up" or touting criminal behavior. That shid stung more to HRC.

Actually that's not true. There's a possible 7 million more votes left to count from places she's expected to win 2-1 like California. The problem necessarily isn't that she got less votes it's where she got less votes.

Hell, if Milwaukee, Philly and Detroit metro areas had shown up like they did in 08 and 12, we wouldn't be talking about this. Didn't she lose those 3 states by a combined 200k votes?

The thing is, I'm all for Bernie and all that, but if we are going to be real about it, the Republicans destroyed the election results at all levels of government, state and federal.

clinton was a terrible uninspiring candidate. bernie supporters have been saying this all year. hell voters have been saying it since 2008. clinton supporters mocked the shyt out of them after the primary was over. looking like the warriors celebrating that ring when they were up 3-1, only to have trump come back and crush their hopes and dreams.

the only people who don't want to admit it are those who were riding for her so hard and don't want to admit they were wrong. if they admit they were wrong then it also means a lot of their "i'm the smartest guy in the room because i follow DC conventional wisdom and the washington bubble" is crushed too. which would basically crush a lot of peoples entire world and reveal they don't really know what they're talking about.

it's not just on here either. it's evident throughout the media and other mainstream democratic surrogates.

maybe they would have shown up if she had given them a reason to. saying "well my opponent is a clown, who will be worse for you than i am" isn't a reason to show up. you have to actually make pledges to these people and have outreach. even if you're full of shyt. she was too scared of offended centrist/corpratist whites though to make any meaningful pledge to muslims or blacks.

really the only ones she kind of reached out to was latinos and her plan wasn't much different than the status quo where a democratic president just deported more immigrants than at any time in history.

i'm tired of the voters being blamed for not showing up when many in the democratic party haven't given them a real reason to and the party as a whole continues to run flawed, weak, barely left candidates.

This election boiled down to who could energize their base.

All things considered Trump didnt even crush Hillary in that respect, but he energized his base in key places.

Hillarys name being on the ballot was responsibile for 6 million people period staying home that voted in 2012. Thats why she lost. It had nothing really to do with Trump and everyting to do with her. I think any other Republican woulda beat her too.
