Predator 2 is a hilariously GREAT movie.

Rewatching this and my lord this doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It’s over the top in ALL the best ways. Imagine if you just made New Jack City or American Me and just dumped a fukking Predator in it.

It’s literally set in what I can only describe as every Republicans worst nightmare or what a 60 year old Iowan thinks your average city is like. It’s supposed to be LA but it’s like a mix of LA, Miami and Bogota but damn near Warhammer 40k levels of chaos and destitution. The opening is a massive gang war with dozens of bodies and the police just mowing down gang members and cop cars exploding.

Everyone is wearing zoot suits and fedoras Danny Grover spends the first half of the film sweating his ass off looking like a Roger Rabbit character. Yet he’s carrying a futuristic Han Solo pistol.

There’s a scene where some goons are harassing a business man on the train and he pulls a gun, so they pull their guns then everyone in the train pulls there gun. Literally better satire on American gun violence than Robocop. Complete with the HARD CORE news guy who profits off all the violence.

The best part is while the original Predator was calculated and strategic and just wants to hunt strong guys fairly. This Predator is a psychopath who clearly does not a fukk and enjoys torturing people and is fukking with Glover for the first half of the film, taunting with his dead friends necklace and using his voice to scare his homie. He was even going to nuke the city because he was losing hahahahaha.


This is one of those films that I think has been memory holed because a lot of crazy films were coming out in the early 90’s and it got put on regular tv so most of the violence was cut out. But watching as an adult with nothing cut out and this movie is brilliant. Not as good as the 1st Predator but damn near on that level.

Masterpiece really. shyts on every movie after it.

There are days its my fav predator movie

And im a huge arnold head and saw arnold as the reason to check first one

But its so good. The crazy predator going ham on everyone 5 guys at oncr, shooting up in bathrooms like a crackhead , running threw apartments with danny glover chasing his ass down

Predators tried to get the lingo down and couldnt. This movie and predator had a really like heavy masculine vibe that few movies ever pull off. Its a perfect action sequel. Everyone was wilding. The girl grabbin paxton by the balls always gets a laugh. Great cast. Main ensemble down to the bad guys. The scorpions/jamaican voodoo posse (lmao..), tony pope, adam baldwin and busey.

King willy scene alone makes it classic.

If p1 is 9.5. This is an 8 at worst. Yet it only got like 30% on RT. Its way better than people say.

No it wasn't a great movie. People are too much in a nostalgia. It has funny scenes but as an entire film it's a mess. Glover is not a bad actor, it's just the movie was an obvious cash in while the hype was still there.

The 1st movie has Arnold beating Predator and we never see him again. Terminator has a Connor and Terminator storyline. Aliens have Alien and Ripley storyline. Meanwhile here it's like there is no point in caring about any protagonist because you know it's only about Predator.

While original Predator also had plenty of funny scenes, they knew how to switch it up to being more serious. Most Arnold films have him going on a rampage through his enemies like it's nothing, Predator was a movie where he met something far stronger than him where audience was like "You know what? He might not make it this time!". Predator 2 meanwhile is just a comedy action flick. Not a WOAT film for sure, but it doesn't compare to the original.

Why didn't they bring Danny Glover to the next Predator films neither? My whole point, they don't develop a storyline of their protagonist for more than a single film. It's a movie franchise that had crazy amount of potential but didn't get there.

I can see that point but I think that’s why a lot of Predator films and media have failed trying to copy the original. Take the biggest badasses and have the Predator hunt them. Ok. But I don’t think that’s why the first film was successful. It was because the Predator was inserted into a film it had no business being in. This was supposed to be a Rambo, Commando, Dirty Dozen type film and wait here is a space alien that shoots lasers from its shoulder and can turn invisible.

Same reason why Predator 2 works. Let’s make a 80’s/90’s detective nior/action thriller, you know Lethal Weapon but wait there’s a psychotic space alien that just kills everyone. They even have Bill Paxton playing the cocky young rookie Riggs character from Lethal Weapon and he gets decapitated lol.



Yeah yeah yeah let’s have the Predator fight samurai, and knights and Inca warriors. fukk all that I want the Predator being dropped into more genre films. Imagine the Sopranos with a Predator in it. Paulie walks into the Bing and Chrissy’s hung upside down skinned. The Predator just wacking mobsters left and right. Tony doesn’t know what the fukk is going on. The Predator is cutting into the garbage collecting business and he needs to do something about it.

Its a dope action flick period. One of the reasons is Michael Peter Hall played the Pred again and he embodied that creature. Rip.

I remember in a different predator 2 thread people were like "How can Danny Glover fight a predator when he was already close to retirement in Lethal Weapon" like these dudes think these movies are in the same universe or something

Still the 2nd best Predator flick hands down. Great action and violence, cool characters, a worthy sequel.

That film was so bad, Peter Weller left completely after and Nancy Allen hit the deuces after the first 5 minutes of the 3rd one
