This aint a bash thread, both cities are bashed enough when it fits a narrative...

Very simply, which city do you prefer? You can have not been to either, or maybe you have, doesn't matter, just state which one appeals to you more and why?

Also state where you're from and if you've been to either...

My hypothesis is its closer to 50/50 than people believe, just based on my experiences living on both coasts and hearing people from all over the US talk about both over the years. Its cool to get this poll on this site too where its mostly black posters and ideas...

So to start it off:

I'm more preferential to LA, partially grew up there, spent more time there as an adult than NY which I've really only been to once. I'm more connected and more comfortable there but I'm also a native Californian. I will say I do like NY, I lived Upstate for two years and networked with a bunch of City cats over the years. I never went outside Manhattan though, and I kind of have a city crush on Queens (when I lived out there City cats told me I have a Queens aura/style/demeanor), so I would definitely be open to visiting Queens but its the only place in NY i could even think about living...

Manhattan was a good time but not impressive enough for me to wanna live there. So I like NY, I'm partial to LA, but I see both cities as equals overall!

LA.

Can only deal with New York people in small doses.

Why is that?

I have had mad friends from NY, I love em. Some of the slang is annoying to me and because I'm not from there some of the customs and culture is odd, but I like the people...

The real strong accents can be annoying but most NY accents aren't the exaggerated hella strong ones we see all over media....NY folk always been dope to me...

NY.

I love the cold snowy winters and having the ability to experience the four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) yearly. Bright City Lights. The clothing. Food. Times Square. Broadway musicals/plays. Style. Music. The PPL. Historical/cultural landmarks and the enormous amounts of opportunities within the city with so much variety to explore new things.

I don't like California. Beaches serve no purpose for me, not a fan of year-round warm weather, too many gangs, terrible traffic, bland party music, not enough black people. California is just like Florida, nothing but beaches and warm weather.
