LA more like home, never had any desire to go anywhere up north east. NYC too many people living on top of each other. LA I know we descend from the same black folks. I'm not really trying to live around foreign born black people to where I'm the minority.

I don't like NYC accents or vernacular. Every Texan I know that went up there hated it. I remember the lady on YouTube who was describing how it was to move there. She said everywhere smelt like shyt:mjcry:
The Black community in LA have a decent amount of Central Americans like Belizeans, Guatemalans, and Panamanians. Plus growimg numbers of Ethiopians, Somalis, Nigerians, and Ghanaians. I think only West Indians are underrepresented.

I know about them, we have that here also. We're still not the minority diaspora by any stretch of the imagination.

It seem like there isn't much FBA at all in NYC. Their parent's or them be foreign born.

the bolded is my response

this poll is a result of podunk and hating ass nikkas period

To the podunk and fly over country-

NYC does not compete with you. We are the only American city that competes with the great global cities

Whatever world you live in where LA is not considered a global city, isn't reality...

You're a smart brother and a good poster, so I'm sure that with the caveat that the oncoming rankings are all viewed thru a Western prism (all Western publications), here is how these cities stack up:

GaWC - The World According to GaWC 2020 (based in England)
1 London
2 New York

8 Paris
9 Tokyo

11 Los Angeles

Read @Kearney: A question of talent: how human capital will determine the next global leaders (based in Chicago)

1 New York
2 London
3 Paris
4 Tokyo
7 Los Angeles

Global City Lab Releases '2019 Global Top 500 Cities' (based in New York)

1 New York
2 London
3 Tokyo
4 Paris
5 Los Angeles

And among many more Western lists, Los Angeles is consistently listed as a Top 10 world city, meaning, these Western organizations that publish these studies, often believe that there are NOT 10 greater cities in the world than LA...

We don't live in the East nor speak Eastern languages, so I'd halt on assuming they view our cities with equivalent esteem as we do, as its extremely American and Western in general, to assume we have the greatest and best of everything...

@Tommy Knocks and others here who have lived out East, I'd love to hear their breakdown on how Easterners look at Western and specifically American cities...

As it is, while these think tanks are studying a number of factors that are unimportant to people in the real world, your claim that there is no competition between NY and LA is false. The performing arts of all kinds, fashion, media and its funnel industries, all of these things and more are draws both cities have to people the world over. LA may not be as diverse as NY, but name a city more diverse than LA, anywhere else in the world, besides NY...

You're trying to paint LA as a regional podunk when it is obviously and clearly accepted as one of the most popular and iconic cities on the planet. And more to the point of the thread, the average American views the two cities about 50/50. You can say "people are only voting LA because of ____", and I could say most people in here have said they are only voting NY because it has more black people, but does it matter? People have preferences based on whats important to them, I'm not sure why you're minimizing people's preference for LA just because they aren't reasons you'd choose LA...

Los Angeles.

I don’t really enjoy NY anymore other than for visiting close friends and family.

Definitely wouldn’t be down to live there again either...

LA is like every other west coast major cities but obviously much more given its the biggest city in the region and 2nd in the nation behind NYC

but it has spots where its really dense and have spots that is sprawled and spread out to where you gotta commute. Although with LA its a bit interesting because its kinda mixed together with other elements given its such a big metropolis.

There was one spot I was at where it felt congested and Spots of LA seem packed as hell to where everywhere you turn theres something there. But at the same time it has elements of distance like some west cities have.

Being a Phoenix nikka we have that but its like this - 85% sprawl and 15% density and that 15% is only in certain parts of PHX and only one city in the metro has density like that which is Tempe

and even then our compacted areas are still kinda spaced out to where a nikka from the east might still find it to far to walk to.

other then that every bit of phx is as spacious as a Houston Rockets Play. lol

Just like Sacramento, Downtown and the Mids have really strong urbanity and then the rest of the city gets pretty suburban and damn near rural once you get towards the fringes of both North and South Sacramento, literal farmland on the borders of the city...

Just like most places, you need a car in most of Sac but if you live in The Grid or just outside it in parts of Midtown or inner South Sac, you can do fine without a car...

The Black community in LA have a decent amount of Central Americans like Belizeans, Guatemalans, and Panamanians. Plus growimg numbers of Ethiopians, Somalis, Nigerians, and Ghanaians. I think only West Indians are underrepresented.

I dont know why people think LA isn't diverse, this is news to me. I thought it was well established that LA is one of the most diverse cities on the planet; Black LA is of course not on the diversity if Black NY but is certainly more diverse than given credit for on here...

I love both but went with NYC.

I’ve been told by my friend who went to SJU that I carry myself like I could be from Queens even though I’m from Maryland. Plus Brooklyn got absolute incredible energy and there truly is no place in this country like Harlem...You really gotta visit the place to get what I mean :wow: I was so fukking close to having a 3-month summer long paid internship at The Apollo with the Smithsonian up there smh :wow:

That Manhattan skyline is always an impressive sight when you approach that shyt too. And now Brooklyn and Queens got their own skylines too.

Plus NYC’s Black culture is one of the most lit and legendary in the world.

The Coli has an anti-NY bias.

In real life of course you hardly see that.

You know what’s funny? During my city-data days, the main posters who talked the most shyt about NYC were the ones from LA and ATL :pachaha: Other than them, most of everybody fukked with NYC and the NYC posters. Hell, San Fran and NYC had some degree of camaraderie on that site too. NYC is the love child on that site, total opposite here on TheColi lol

My name rings bells - don’t make me look bad. Remember the streets don’t love no one like I do
