By allowing yourselves to be led around by every Trump tweet like children, you're fulfilling his goal. Did you stop to think why Trump posted that flag burning tweet? Like, what prompted it? It seemingly came out of nowhere, didn't it? Perhaps he wants you to be outraged by the flag burning tweet, just like he wanted you to be outraged by that 2nd amendment comment and all the other wild shyt he said during the election, just like he wants you to think he's going to set up FEMA camps. Remember, it was Steve Bannon who wanted to "let Trump be Trump".

The cumulative effect of you thinking (and tweeting/posting/saying) that these Trump utterances should be construed in a literal, realistic sense is the demolition of the shared "reality" we believe ourselves to be living in. The gap between the "reality" you offer ("Trump is being serious and we're about to enter the 4th Reich") and the "reality" most people outside the bubble inhabit is widened by your outrage, which creates an environment of chaos and confusion. Who is credible now? Are you and the MSM telling us to be outraged credible? Y'all spent the past year smugly laughing and saying Trump could never be elected, and now we're supposed to believe you when you tell us to be afraid of Trump, or that his tweets constitute a credible threat? Not only is any message coming from your side poisoned, it is poisoned because it is coming from your side. People think the "fake news" phenomenon is limited to far-right wing conspiracy sites, but all news is fake news now.

Quotes like this: are exactly what Trump's media strategy relies on.

:mjlol: nikkas here thinking trump is playing 10d chess.

No nikka, it's not that complicated. :francis:

@King Kreole Get Kaepernick out your avi, breh, he would never fukk with you, you are a fakkit. Trust that Colin would murk trump with his own bare hands. You insult Kaep and us by pretending to be his stan. If you stan the fakkit, you are in direct opposition to Colin K.
First off, check the record, I was stanning Kap before I ever "stanned" Trump. You can remove this avi from my cold, dead profile. Colin would murk Trump with his own bare hands...yet he didn't vote because he said it did't matter either way. You fukking clown. If Kap was on here y'all Hillary idiots would be negging him like Bill Maher did. Because unlike you, Colin was able to see through the MSM bullshyt about Trump being some uniquely evil instantiation of white supremacy and recognized that white supremacy is not a surface deep cut that will be healed by putting on a band-aid aka defeating Trump. Colin isn't running around pissing himself saying the sky is falling like y'all. So go ahead and turn flag burning into the next ice bucket challenge, but don't bother responding to this until you remove your head from your ass.

The guy went from being a nationally regarded joke to the PEOTUS. When will people stop underestimating him?

Listen, I understand the lure of the simple narrative. It feels good. "Trump is a super racist buffoon who can't help but tweet dumb crazy things and as such is manifestly unfit to be President." That's your take, yeah? But it's still a reading of Trump at the most superficial level, and implies that he's really running off pure id. Trump and Bannon know this, which is why they feed that narrative. "He has no ground game, a 12 year old is running one of his offices, the campaign has spent more on MAGA hats than polling, etc" all these stories contribute to a sense of total incompetence and chaos. And again, they're catnip for liberals because it feels good to have your opponent be an idiot. That is until he wins. This isn't "10d chess", it's taking advantage of media biases and blind spots, as well as geo-cultural divisions. Bannon himself has admitted this. We know stories that provoke liberal outrage are irresistible to the media, and we know that a growing number of people are finding the media non-credible, so if we add fuel to that fire, the division it will grow, allowing a new order to assume power in the vacuum.

Or maybe you're right, the man who just won the most improbable electoral victory in American history (primarily through this exact media strategy) is a world-class idiot with the discipline of a 7 year old. That is a much less complicated take.

:manny: we'll see
:yeshrug: I think with Trump, he ran against the WOAT candidate in Clinton and due to his time as a reality show star he understood how becoming the story worked.

Clinton really was that bad. Look at her philosophy. Let me ignore rust belt democrats so I can pick up rich republicans :mjlol:

Absolutely stupid politics.

He was truly running against the WOAT :yeshrug:

It's honestly insane how both candidates were so badly regarded. Like, both had historically low numbers. How does that happen in the same election :dwillhuh:

I think Clinton was worse because she had all the experience, money and expectation behind her. Like, Trump was a reality tv star, he had no business being up there, he was playing with house money. Clinton was "the most qualified candidate in history" with a very popular sitting President riding with her...and she still got dominated in the electoral college :russ:

Wild times :bryan:
