In light of Combat Jack dying and other young brehs passing from cancer or other diseases..
I wanted to make a thread for those who have been through some medical conditions currently or from the past.
I’ve been dealing with stomach issues and had a colon cancer scare myself for the past 5 months..
It has taken a toll not only on my body but my mind..
As of now I’m good as far as my colon is concerned but I’m still having digestive( being treat for ibs and crohns) and I found out I am in the beginnings of arthritis in my lower back.
As black men and women(other races as well) we really need to start going to a physician regularly.
We all know the black men in are family that refuse to go to a doctor because we think we are so strong and can just take a Advil or BC powder and keep going.
If it wasn’t for my cousins uncle dying from Stage 4 stomach cancer, I would have never gone to the doctor and would have kept ignoring my symptoms
Dry heaving
Fevers/chills
Constipation
Loss of appetite
Right side stomach cramps
Lethargic
Urine smelled bad
Blood in my stool
Symptoms can vary with each person but these were mines..
Being this is the holidays and we will be seeing family we care about, please check up on their health. If you know somebody putting off illness, please have a serious talk to them..
Prevention
Prevention
Prevention
Is the key..
We already know how doctors view melanated people, there was even a thread about it but I forgot the title..
Listen to your body, take care of yourself and be proactive.
I’ve dramatically changed my diet and I’m still doing research on all my ailments..
This thread is not for flaming or if you have problems with people on thecoli.
We all have difference in opinions but health is something universal we all have to deal with.
Any stories and advice would be appreciated.
Please take care of your health brethrens..

AA's got high rates of colon cancer cuz of the american lifestyle

that means processed foods for shelf life...

not enough exercise.. not enough sunshine/vitamin d

and then alotta us dont see the doctor regularly for basic tests

theres a reason why colon cancer is damn near non existent in africa.. compared wit the western world...

its mostly cuz they actually eat unprocessed foods and not too much meat...

and they get alotta sunshine being near the equator...

cuz vitamin d by itself can prevent whole lotta different cancers

last 20 years AA's colon cancer rate is between 40 and 75 per 100,000...

with Africans its only bout 4 per 100,000 :wow:

Colonoscopy and Endoscopy do not hurt..
They put you to sleep during the process.
X-rays, ultrasounds and catscans can not pick up polyps..
This was the type of tumor I had:
“Duodenal cancer is a cancer in the beginning section of the small intestine. It is relatively rare compared to gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. Its histology is usually adenocarcinoma. ... The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine.”
Symptoms can also be mistaken as a ulcer..
If you intake too many products like Tylenol, Advil, etc..
Those could start to erode the lining of your stomach and can cause major damage to your liver..
Also the pain can be mistaken with gallstones or kidney stones.
Doctors do catscans first to see if it’s one of the two..
I’ve had my gallbladder removed years ago( that effects of bile help break down fat).
Gastroenterologist are specialists for your stomach..
Sometimes you need to be referred by a GP(almost got in a fight with mines:russ:
Because of ER instructions told me to go to a General Practioner first for a referral..
Glad my girl was in the room, I was about to drag his ass:mjlol:
She knows my temper..
Look at your stools from time to time..
Fresh blood could be a sign of hemorrhoids..
If you have dark or your stools look black, you could be bleeding internally which is another symptom..
Many people hate looking at their stools but please check them..
Having trouble passing gas and feeling bloated all the time can be another sign or loose stools..
Cloudy urine or smelly urine can also be signs of a problem(ie kidney stones, damage to the urethra and intestinal problems..
Lethargy with fevers/chills..
I knew something was wrong when my appetite completely disappeared and felt nauseous when I smelled food..
I also stayed in the bed for a week not being able to move without feeling sick..
I lost a little weight due to not eating, which another sign of illness or cancer.
Get a genetic test or do a family background on the diseases that run in your family..
My mother, pops, grandmother and grand pops all had stomach cancer in some form of fashion..
