Favorite joint on the album off 2 listens through. When Royce starts that 2nd verse off, both times I've heard it I've just taken it in like :blessed:

They really should do a full LP without just sampling one artist. Just a straight up Premier and Royce album. They're honestly Gang Starr 2.0 and I've said that shyt since the first Bar Exam tape.

Okay I officially need to check out Run the Jewels 2. Is it bad I haven't heard it yet?

I feel you on MadGibbs. I don't skip any of it, but I could take a song or two being cut. 4 songs on there had been out for SO long. I wouldn't cut Thuggin or Deeper, but maybe Harold's or Same? The last joint IMO was the weakest track, only because it had so many verses, and only a few were that dope. No way mac Miller should've had the last verse on the album.

I've seen some people say the 2nd half of Piñata is worse, but I think it just takes a different turn. Robes, Broken, Lakers, and Knicks is a dope ass run. I dunno breh, I think Piñata is a modern classic, but I agree with you that more people should trim the fat and make 9-12 song albums.

Street Hop isn't fully produced by Premier, but Premier executive produced it. It's a dope album to me.

And yeah, you REALLY need to check out Run The Jewels 2. Very, very dope. Picked up where the first one left off, but is better.

I'd have to listen to Pinata again, but there were three songs or so that I thought weren't necessary. Weren't trash, but didn't necessarily add to the album, if you know what I mean. I also just prefer shorter albums in general though.

Apparently Royce didn't like the beat and/or his verse for U Looz and that's why it's only 1 verse? Royce is bugging on that.

In an interview, he said he just didn't have anything else to add to the song, and that he didn't want to force another verse.

Other than Royce being on point and just dropping good/dope verses and Preme/A. Younge blessing Royce w/ these beats.....a Really impressive thing about this album is that all the features Royce hasnt worked with before dropped their best guest verses in a long ass time. Soulo sounds focused. One of th best Mac guest verses ever? Q was focused lyrically and didnt just try to sound hard. Killer Mike is always dope. Even Common's & Jay Electronica's old asses brought their A or B game which isnt always guaranteed these days. SH did what they were supposed to do.

Just dope album. Should've been longer though, I gotta add that SHxPreme song off ShadyXV to the same playlist

I can dig that. Sometimes less is more. I think it would've worked better as an intro. It sounds kind of weird forced into the middle of the album. because it doesn't sound like an interlude either. The last time I heard Premier rap (on M.O.P.'s Breakin The Rules) it was the first song on the album, then you had him on the beginning of Warriorz...

I think U Looz going right into PRhyne and then the regular order after that would be perfect.

I think it's a prime (pun intended) example of someone recording somewhere else with a different engineer and sending it in. That's probably the best they could do with it. if you listen to MadGibbs's Pinata album, almost all of the guest verses were done way later, so they're all pretty much tacked on as the final verse. They don't sound as obvious as this one, but the mix on them isn't the same.

Realyl good post. I meant to ask what people thought about Schoolboy Q, Killer Mike, Ab Soul, etc. I thought every guest minus Mac Miller did their thing, and I just don't like Mac that much. I didn't even think he sounded bad.

Jay Elec sounded like he was rapping over a pay phone in jail. but lord knows where he was when he recorded the verse. It's just cool to hear something from him. I also wish Common had spit over the 2nd part of the beat too, and not just the 1st part, but these are small complaints.

Is this the first time Common has rapped over Preem since The 6th Sense?
