Bob Sanders

Him and Ryan Clark are two of the top tier crash out safeties in modern football. ZERO sense of self preservation.

That said, Ed.

Prime made the passing game dangerous on one side of the field.

Ed made anything past 12 yards dangerous AND he could blitz AND he did run fits like a proper safety.

For me, if you're choosing between a top tier safety vs a top tier corner you choose safety every single time.

Would have a lot of issues in todays game, same with Ronnie Lott

on topic:
Id take Prime. A shutdown corner is just too valuable because you can cheat your safeties and corners the other way.

With that said, Prime was pretty direct about not liking to tackle. Modern offenses that run stretch zone/outside zone would attack his side relentlessly making him do the dirty work tackling.

its the exact opposite for me

with majority of teams playing two deep shells Id take a shutdown corner

then again if you have Ed motherfukking Reed you can pay single high

:manny: theres no wrong answer here lol

Deion's fatal flaw is run stopping though......or just lack of physicality in general when it's not a pass play. If the question was Champ or Charles or even Revis vs Ed I'd still lean Ed, but it'd be closer.

My opinion on Deion is gonna get me into some shyt in this thread. He IS the best pass defender of all time, but he's not the best cornerback of all time.

Easy question, hard answer (maybe)

All time NFL draft for your life, and you have to pick a DB.

Do you select Deion Sanders with your selection or Ed Reed? And why?

:beli:
Deion Luwynn Sanders.

All-Pro DB, can create some packages for him at WR and then use him as a KR/PR when needed. More utility.

You could argue Ed was tougher to deal with as the QB of the secondary and I'd say a better culture guy. I remember as soon as Prime came to Dallas, he was trying to insinuate that Troy was racist for barking at Kevin Williams....even though Troy barked at everyone that fukked up, since Jimmy was gone and there was no one to keep discipline.

yeah I agree here, directly from my post:

Why don't you ask your NFL coach best friends :mjlol:

A, i was trying to remember who made them long post about their best friend in the NFL.

Ed Reed was amazing man.

I’m taking Prime because he takes a teams best receiver out the play most of the time.

Goofy nikka said his “NFL insiders” know Travis isn't an elite prospect :russ:

Ed reed in todays pass happy NFL would have 100+ career interceptions. Basically 8-10 per season. A guaranteed TO every second game.

I’ll take Reed. I’ll give up a little at corner because of what a safety like Reed brings to a defense.

Rod Woodson.

Played (well) both safety and corner DB positions. Strong tackler. Most Pick 6s in NFL history, most defensive touchdowns in NFL history, longevity (played 17 years) made 9 all pro teams.

You can put Rod Woodson in more places in more defensive schemes and he'll be just as effective than either Ed Reed or Deion Sanders
Facts.

they're obviously both legendary players...both are probably the best at their respective positions. If i'm building a team...I'm choosing Deion. They will both improve your team with their football skills. The thing that puts Prime ahead of Reed for me is the marketability. Prime probably generated billions worth of Jersey and ticket sales during his playing career and beyond. He could also be put on Special Teams for punt/kickoff returns.
