The advantage (some might call it unfair) that Draymond has over nearly every single 'team' defender in NBA history is that he's allowed to roam free on the defensive end, without a strict role - due to his ability, coaching, the positionless state the league is in, and the complexity of team offenses. Therefore he's allowed to fulfill MORE duties on defense than 99.9999999999% of players that have played the game. Which is why it's silly to say a past player is a better team defender than him when they didn't do half the shyt he does on that end of the floor.

You can't say that though. Cause Dream would step up to help when Kenny was getting blown by, or Mario Ellie and STILL recover in time to guard his man. Same thing for Matrix. Most nights he had to help Nash, then cover Stat's man and still guard his. Matrix, Rodman, Ak47, Dream a few others, could guard any position on the floor. Draymond pretty much just roams. He's like the penultimate help defender, but help defender isn't the same as one-on-one.

As for better player, Odom was so much better it's not even a fair comparison. Odom was superstar ability but an underachiever. Btter passer, better handle, better at running an offense, better rebounder, better scorer. Draymond is a peak role player. A more fair comparison would be Anthony Mason and Draymond.

I can say that.

Neither Dream, Marion, Rodman, Kirilenko or any other player fulfilled the same amount of roles on defense that Draymond does. And I don't know why you're insinuating that Draymond is just a help defender, he's arguably the best 1v1 defender in the league too. Just a season ago, he guarded 191 isolation possessions (more than any other player in the league) and held them to 0.68 points per possession (also the best mark in the league), a better rate than Kawhi (0.69 points per possession) who only defended a third of the amount (61 isolation possessions).
